Lilly is currently constructing a cutting-edge facility for the manufacture of new modalities including Gene Therapy. At Lebanon, Indiana, this facility will be Lilly's most technically advanced manufacturing site focused on the delivery of the next wave of innovative products at Lilly. It will include next-generation manufacturing technologies and advanced data collection and analysis platforms that will deliver improvements in safety and quality, and process performance.
This is a unique opportunity to be a part of the team for the startup of a greenfield manufacturing site, and the successful candidate will participate in the start-up of the facility responsible for both clinical and commercial supply.
The Instrument Engineer position provides process measurement leadership to LP2 to the site, assisting with selection, installation, and upgrades to process instrumentation throughout the manufacturing and lab spaces.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate's education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is
$64,500 - $167,200
Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). Key Responsibilities:
Lebanon Facility Pre-Startup and Startup Phase:
- Support a safety-first, quality always engineering team.
- Ability to respond quickly and proactively to changing priorities within a reasonable timeframe.
- Cross functional collaboration with Global Facility Delivery (GFD) to support project delivery.
- Support C&Q activities, including but not limited to, initial calibrations, shakedowns, initial/operational verification, and/or equipment qualification.
- Provide field support to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment issues.
- Ensuring that the process instrumentation is in control, capable, and compliant to be used to manufacture advanced therapies drug substances and drug products.
- Provide discipline leadership to local projects to ensure proper instrument selection, qualification, documentation, and standardization
Lebanon Facility Post Startup:
- Make improvement recommendations to instrument calibration practices or instrument shop standards to ensure that CPP measurements are compliant with corporate standards.
- Manage measurement and control equipment obsolescence.
- Perform Continuous Improvement of our assets spare parts list for accuracy.
- Redesign, updating, and/or specifying instruments.
- Creation and development of RCA, FMEA, RCM, PHR, etc.
- Contribute to incident/deviation investigations on instrumentation and implement countermeasure as appropriate to prevent reoccurrence.
- Complete, in a timely manner, assigned CAPA Items action items.
- Own change controls, when applicable, to increase the robustness and reliability of instrumentation.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related engineering field.
- 3+ years of experience in instrumentation and control systems engineering.
Additional Preferences:
- Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
- Proficiency in using instrumentation and control system software.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience with specific instrumentation and control systems used in the API or Chemical manufacturing processes.
- Strong knowledge of electronic systems and software
- Experience working in a GMP/regulated environment.
- Maximo CMMS experience
