Process Modeler Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION: (Briefly summarize the overall purpose of the position. Objectives should be written in 3 - 4 statements). Synthetic Molecule Process Development (SMPD) is responsible for the development of robust, sustainable and cost-effective processes for the manufacture of new synthetic molecule pharmaceuticals, along with methods for achieving and controlling high standards of purity and quality.

The successful candidate will:

  • Develop process models (mechanistic, AI/ML, or hybrid) of reactions, crystallization, solubility,....to accelerate process design, optimization and characterization, that will be deployable across the global organization.
  • Develop digital twins of unit operations by integrating the process/transport models with input variables.
  • Design and apply visualization tools, data analytics, or user interfaces to democratize the model predictions, enhance process understanding, and enable data driven decision making.
  • Works on technology projects and platform developments end to end: from project planning to implementation.
  • Identifies opportunities to accelerate process development activities and executes on them by utilizing modeling and simulation techniques.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: (List the education and experience required to perform the primary responsibilities of the job. Equivalent combinations of education and experience should be noted)

  • Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related degree and 6+ years relevant industry experience
  • Masters degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related degree and 4+ years relevant industry experience
  • PhD in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related degree and 0+ years relevant industry experience
  • Strong background in chemical engineering fundamentals such as reaction engineering, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and MATLAB
  • Experience in developing and/or applying AI/ML in the field of Chemical engineering and process modeling
  • Knowledge of chemical engineering software such as gPROMS, Dynocem, MStar, Star CCM+ is a plus.
