About the role:
Process Scientist will perform overall production work through the process of cultivation and harvesting bacterial strains using fermenters of different sizes and responsible for manufacturing for targeted products from Crown Laboratories Inc.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading fermentation and manufacturing processes of commercial products to achieve goals
- Overall manage media preparation, calibration, sterilization, operation, and maintenance of Fermenters (5L ~ 200L)
- Maintain Gram (+) and/or Gram (-) bacterial strains
- Perform cultivation of bacterial strains to meet production goals using fermenters
- Troubleshoot problems associate with fermentation and manufacturing operation
- Lead and support manufacturing process for targeted commercial products
- Manage and maintain the production facility and equipment
- Keep detailed records of experiments and production area
- Development, optimize and scale up new strains with Biological R&D scientists
- Assist cosmetic/pharmaceutical development R&D when needed
- Follow approved cGMP directions and other instructions
- Support, and provide leadership for QC Micro Lab Technicians and be able to act as QC Micro Lab Head when they are not available.
- These responsibilities may change based on the business demand and the company's organizational needs.
Job Related Qualifications/Skills
- Bachelor's or master's degree in biochemical engineering, microbiology, metabolic engineering, or related discipline.
- 3~5 years (Master's) or 5~7 years (Bachelor's) of industrial experience
- Hands-on experience in operating fermenters (large scale fermenter >100L) and improving industrial fermentation processes.
- Requires basic microbiological techniques and bacterial culturing techniques
- Prefer to have an understanding of bacterial physiology
- Ability to effectively work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Well-organized and able to properly record experimental data and report on progress
