As a member of the Strategic Category Management team, the Distributor Sourcing Specialist is responsible for managing assigned distributor(s) for Electronic Systems US Defense.
The Specialist will ensure assigned suppliers are meeting BAE Systems' requirements (including but not limited to quality, on-time delivery, and compliance). Activities include the formulation and implementation of sourcing strategies, participation on cross-functional teams, driving best practices and improving overall supplier performance. This position works closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders including Supply Chain Management, Supplier Quality, manufacturing, and programs. The successful candidate must have a working knowledge of procurement, be an effective problem solver and communicator, and be able to build strong working relationships with suppliers and internal customers.

Primary responsibilities include:
  • Ensure effective execution with and from suppliers with an eye on continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Support management of assigned suppliers' SMI program across US Defense, including pipeline health to forecast, pull replenishment parameters, and BPO releases management.
  • Manage and oversee assigned suppliers' Supplier Buyers to ensure requisitions are placed in a timely manner and all Procurement Compliance requirements are met. Review and approve ePO's submitted by Supplier Buyers.
  • Monitor open order status to ensure suppliers are striving to meet BAE Systems' required dates, timely status is maintained in Dataview/Oracle, issues preventing delivery are resolved, and necessary escalations occur.
  • Engage and assist in the resolution of site level issues.
  • Participate in corporate commodity negotiation projects as appropriate.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to continuously improve existing processes and practices.
  • Participate in Quality-led supplier assessments as required
  • Communicate and collaborate with Business Area Procurement teams, Supplier Quality, internal customers, programs, and across Strategic Category Management.
  • Work collaboratively with Distribution Sourcing Analyst to ensure effective execution and execution across suppliers and commodities.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline
  • Defense/government procurement experience including PO management, price analysis and knowledge of FAR/DFAR requirements.
  • Strong communication skills with an assertive and forthcoming professional demeanor. Comfortable interfacing with supplier leadership teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, a data driven problem solver and decision maker.
  • Ability to operate in a demanding and dynamic culture and work effectively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve supplier performance issues
  • Knowledge and experience in enterprise ERP systems, particularly Oracle
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint


Preferred Skills and Education

  • Procurement experience in BAE Systems Electronic Systems a plus
  • Experience procuring from distributors a plus
  • Six Sigma/Lean certification a plus
  • APICS or CPSM certification a plus
