U. S. Steel is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Procurement Category Manager to join our dynamic Raw Materials organization. Procurement is a core component of our business and key to our success as one of the world's largest steel producers. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and negotiation skills, coupled with relevant work experience in procurement. This strategic role requires an individual who can effectively manage procurement activities, develop sourcing strategies, and drive cost optimization initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for raw materials to ensure cost-effective sourcing and supply continuity.
  • Conduct market analysis and supplier evaluations to identify new opportunities and mitigate risks.
  • Lead negotiation processes with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align procurement strategies with business objectives.
  • Monitor and manage supplier performance, ensuring compliance with contract terms and quality standards.
  • Analyze procurement data to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on procurement activities and initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in procurement, preferably in the raw materials sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing favorable agreements.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Strong Ethics (Effect, Transparency, Fairness).
  • Demonstrated strong Leadership, communication & interpersonal Skills.

Additional Information:
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management preferred.
  • MBA preferred.
