Job Description:

The responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • General


  • Under the direct supervision of the Senior Manager, this position manages all commercial and contractual activities of Kawasaki's track business, which is one of new digital businesses. This position requires market research and business development, proposal, bid, negotiation, account management and execution, sales and compliance with federal or state regulations (if required under the contract), by managing all commercial activities/requirements throughout the project lifetime.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Promote long and short-term market strategies and departmental goals, and evaluate outcomes.
    • Develop business opportunities to supply Kawasaki's products and solutions to the relevant market effectively.
    • Manage entire process of the bid and/or the request for proposal (RFP) for potential new projects.
    • Establish potential partnerships as necessary for the purpose of exploring in the industry/market, 1) Kawasaki's better position, 2) more business opportunities, and 3) sales enhancement.
    • Pay attention to capturing the customer's feedbacks and market demands in order to meet these satisfactions and future improvements of Kawasaki's businesses.
    • Manage all commercial areas of the project, including all terms and conditions set forth in each contract and compliance with federal and state regulations, if any.
    • Lead the development of strategies for resolving complex commercial/contractual situations including change orders and supports the negotiations of agreements with customers and suppliers.
    • Manage a team/staff, assigning appropriate resource to support each project, and assure the creation and maintenance of adequate processes and/or procedures to ensure effective execution of business development/account management duties (roles and responsibilities) of the projects.
    • Lead the development of training for a team/staff in order to enhance the overall business development/account management skills and competencies of the team.
    • Support the development of ongoing improvements in subcontracts with suppliers, ensuring the input of experience from current and past contracts is carried forward into future projects.
    • Work closely with the project managers, internal legal counsel and department managers to solve specific commercial and contractual issues to ensure that Kawasaki rights and contractual interests are always protected.


    Qualifications:

    Skills and Competencies

    • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, including problem-solving expertise to coordinate interdepartmental and client related activities for the most beneficial solution to Kawasaki. Must be uniquely qualified in claim preparation and defense is a strong negotiator.
    • Must have a comprehensive knowledge and experiences in project and account management, and must be able to maintain effectively planning, budgeting, scheduling, payments and resourcing.
    • Must be familiar with and accessible to the information on market demands of the rail/transportation industry and its respective customers' need.
    • Must be a team player managing multiple tasks effectively.
    • Must be able to have frequent domestic travels.
    • Must be well skilled in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) and other business software.


  • Education and Experience


    • Bachelor degree is desired, with familiarity and focus in business administration.
    • More than 5-10 years of experiences in business development and account management or a similar type of work of the railroad or transportation industry is preferred.
