Reporting Structure

The Product Developer is a member of the Product Development Team and reports to the Product Development Manager. This position also partners with cross-functional stakeholders and team members across the organization.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities
  • Validate popular and relevant products by meticulously analyzing market information and researching customer reviews.
  • Prepare and present presentations to educate, inform, and identify all product requirements, specifications, and timelines.
  • Assess current competitor offerings, seeking opportunities to always elevate the product for improved features, designs and functions.
  • Determine product pricing by utilizing market research data, reviewing production and sales costs, finalizing cost structure and margin.
  • Define development goals and manage key milestones by taking ownership of your project through creative problem solving and articulation of risks, to ensure the project meets all requirements and remains on track with timelines.
  • Collaborate directly with BCP overseas office to ensure product development projects are executed within pre-defined scope and timelines.
  • Foster positive working relationships with overseas vendors through effective communications across various platforms of communication. (email, video calls, etc.)
  • Drive the execution of all product lifecycle processes for products, including product research, market research, competitive analysis, planning, positioning, and product launch.
  • Analyze market data to draft creative brief plans and provide clear direction for our creative team.
  • Manage calendar to ensure all critical milestones are met.
  • Collaborate with cross functional groups such as Category Management, Sourcing, Vendor Management, Quality Control, Creative, and other departments to ensure successful communication and product launches.
  • Lead product meetings to coordinate actions and mitigate project risks.
  • Understand requirements for compliance, regulatory, and other standards regarding your product lines.
  • Be attuned to the eCommerce community daily to understand product trends, new competitor launches and define key competitors.
  • Collaborate daily with your manager to gather input on new product development ideas, ensuring optimal success in new product launches.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Required Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree required; comparable work experience may be substituted to meet educational requirements.
  • 3-5 years' experience successfully developing and launching product lines.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop and Illustrator; knowledge of SolidWorks is a plus.
  • A love of retail and great commercial awareness.
  • Excellent research and data analysis skills.
  • Presentation skills and the ability to explain data clearly.
  • The ability to use databases and spreadsheet software. (Microsoft Office Suite)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 suite.
  • Strong decision-making skills.
  • Ability to identify and offer effective solutions to problems.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and cope under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Prior experience communicating with vendors a plus.

The base salary range for this full-time position is $85,000 - $100,000 USD annually. You will also be eligible to participate in BCP's benefits and bonus programs. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills and experience.
