Product Development Engineer

Location: Onsite Export PA

Salary: $70,000-$100,000 per year DOE

Shift/Schedule: Monday-Friday 40 hours per week

JOB SUMMARY:

The Product Development Engineer is responsible for researching, planning, and designing mechanical products, systems, and accessories related to automotive applications in the Performance market segment.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Researching, designing, developing, and prototyping aftermarket automotive components.
  • Preparing cost estimates, design specifications, plans and drawings.
  • Predicting vehicle or component behavior under different conditions using computerized models
  • Developing testing procedures
  • Investigating product failures
  • Analyzing, interpreting, and condensing technical data into reports or presentations
  • Supervise technical staff
  • Work collaboratively with other engineering staff to design and produce aftermarket automotive performance products to APG's high standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent field) OR equivalent combination of experience and education within the automotive industry required.
  • Proficiency with various CAD software including but not limited to Autodesk Inventor and/or Solidworks is required.
  • Strong understanding of 3D modeling, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), and manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software and design version control.
  • Knowledge of Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is preferred.
  • Experience working with automotive aftermarket design OR having extensive knowledge of aftermarket parts industry is required. Proficiency working on cars and working in a shop environment is a plus.
  • Designing and working with metal fabrication is strongly desired: Sheetmetal, Tubing, welding, etc.
  • Experience collaborating with vendors, negotiating pricing, and seeking out new manufacturing partners strongly desired
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

Aftermarket Performance Group (APG) is a fast-growing leader in the automotive enthusiast industry. The company is divided into two divisions - Truck and Off-road and Automotive. The Truck and Off-road division focus on the wholesale distribution and direct-to-consumer segments within diesel performance (Premier Performance Products, Truck Tech), Jeep and Off-road (Northridge4x4), Off-road Truck (Stage 3 Motorsports, TrailRecon, PRL Motorsports, Adams Driveshaft), and Manufacturing/Proprietary Brands (Grimm Off-road).
