Product Development Specialist - Industrial Markets
As a member of the Industrial Group, the Product Development Specialist isresponsible to develop, launch and manage products and product information for our various industrial markets as well as act as the Technical Lead for markets they are part of.
Key Responsibilities
Develop new products as determined by the Commercial Sales Group within the Industrial Market Groups, that meet specification, cost, quality, functionality, launch schedule, safety, and manufacturing requirements.
Understand the external markets serviced by CGT Industrial Group to participate in the determination of the new products to be developed.
Liaise with customers, internal sales teams, and operations to ensure project timelines and budgets are being met.
Provide product and external application technical support and troubleshooting to sales/marketing, operations, and customers.
Direct/manage activities of other Product Development Associates (PDAs) within the Industrial Group as required.
Responsible for Bill Of Materials (BOM's), Process Specs, Control Plans, etc. in their respective markets and the process to ensure there is successful communication to all affected teams.
Identify, lead, and ensure the execution of continuous improvement projects of cost, quality, and capacity improvement as required to meet the overall objectives of the Industrial Group.
Facilitate, lead, or manage cross-functional teams for trial planning and root cause analysis activities.
Participate in budgeting and costing activities.
Participate in external Industry Associations, conferences and trade shows as required.
Attend commercial market trade shows as required.
Direct activity of PDAs, technicians and plant employees during trials and testing.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Education
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering or equivalent
Experience
Three to five (3-5) years of experience in a medium to large manufacturing environment in a product development role.
Knowledge of Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC), polyurethane (PU), or other thermoplastics fabrication and processes are beneficial.
Working experience with thermoplastic calendering or extrusion processes is ideal
Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP system.
Team-based, collaborative work experience with cross-functional teams
Experience in product launch processes

Working Conditions:
Position requires work in office, plant and lab environments. Occasional visits to customer sites, job sites, and other production facilities.
Standard 40hr work week, but additionally may be required to work evenings, and weekends to accommodate production scheduling and program requirements including on an on-call basis when necessary.
Domestic and International travel up to 20% pending assignments - must have valid passport and the ability to freely travel across international borders.
Exposure to powders, plasticizers, solvents such as MEK, etc. in a Chemical Plant environment
Standing, sitting, walking, some minor lifting/carrying of product samples
Use of PPE in production environments
