Product Manager - Automation and Controls

AutomationDirect is looking for a proactive and experienced Automation Controls Product Manager to enhance our Process Instrumentation product lines. In this role, you will be driving product strategy, managing supplier relationships, and spearheading product development to ensure competitive advantage and customer satisfaction in the industrial automation market. This position combines engineering expertise with business acumen to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions to our customers.

Salary: $120,000.00 - $145,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and execute a multi-year product roadmap, focusing on expanding market presence and enhancing competitive advantage.
  • Analyze market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape to identify opportunities for new and existing product lines.
  • Lead new product development from concept to launch, ensuring products meet market needs and company standards.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms and manage ongoing vendor relationships to ensure product quality and availability.
  • Develop marketing strategies, including pricing, branding, and promotional materials, to effectively position products in the market.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to support product strategy and address any product-related issues.
  • Support product end of life strategies, including managing obsolescence and transitioning to newer product versions.
  • Engage in domestic and international travel as required for product sourcing and market research.

Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 7 years of experience in industrial control and automation, with direct involvement in product management or engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing PLCs, HMIs, Drives, or similar automation control products.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working independently and in team settings.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without Visa sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Over 10 years of related experience, particularly in OEM manufacturing or process instrumentation product management.
  • Hands-on experience with process sensors and knowledge of temperature/process controls and signal conditioners.
  • Familiarity with industry standards and certifications such as UL, CSA, CE, RoHS.
  • Proficiency in CAD tools like AutoCAD or SolidWorks.

Skills:
  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret technical data and market insights.
  • Strong negotiation skills with suppliers and partners.
  • Ability to lead and manage projects across multiple teams.
  • Deep understanding of product lifecycle management.
  • Technical proficiency in using various engineering design and development software.
