THE POSITION

The Product Manager will set strategy, drive innovation, and manage profitability across their product categories.

The Product Manager will interact with all functional groups throughout the division as the owner of the overall product lifecycle. This individual will be the product category leader responsible for total portfolio management. We are looking for business leaders that are excellent problem solvers with strong communication skills that perform well in an entrepreneurial environment.

The position can be onsite or hybrid at our location in Pompano Beach, FL with candidates from the Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach areas. This position will also require travel to our locations across North America.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Product Portfolio Management:
  • Lead product portfolio strategy including management of existing product mix and pricing strategy to drive top- and bottom-line financial performance.
  • Participate in capacity planning efforts working with operations and engineering.
  • Responsible for product line maintenance including SKU rationalization and simplification to optimize the product mix and financials.
  • The position will oversee product label content, which will interface with Marketing, Compliance, and Logistics to ensure successful product launches and brand positioning.

Innovation:
  • Execution of the new product development roadmap to capitalize on key market opportunities and champion the Innovation stage gate process through cross-functional leadership.
  • Product Managers will lead new product rollout efforts including forecasting volumes, end user validation, integrated marketing planning as well as sales and channel training.
  • The Product Manager will be responsible for the MOC (Management of Change) process for new product introductions and existing product modifications.
  • Introduce new and/or improved products to the sales force, customers, and prospects.
  • The Product Manager will be responsible for managing the launch of existing products to private label customers, as well as the onboarding of contract manufacturing business across the division.

End User Intimacy:
  • Gain strong understanding of voice of customer through qualitative and quantitative market research that drive product strategy and development.
  • Qualify potential customers, customer requirements and performance standards and work with the sales force to obtain the business.
  • Lead end user segmentation to ensure proper targeting and prioritization.

Market Landscape:
  • The Product Manager will have a full understanding of the market dynamics including customer and end user trends, competitive trends, strengths/weaknesses of our products/brands versus competition and will drive efforts to drive growth via focus on addressable markets.
  • Define market share along with advantages and weaknesses and report to management.
  • Define competitor's market share along with advantages and weaknesses and report to management.
  • Identify the need for product improvement and/or new product development and report to management.

Customer Support:
  • Provide technical assistance to the sales force to handle customer complaints, customer requests for technical assistance and conduct product trials.
  • Service current customers and prospective customers through in-person visits, telephone calls, e-mails, and letters on a regular basis with and without the presence of sales personnel.

Reporting and Analysis:
  • Record technical information including but not limited to product data sheets.
  • Prepare market forecasts as required by management and establish targeted company share.
  • Prepare opportunity list updates monthly.
  • Report activities and business opportunities by providing weekly summaries to management.
  • Improve knowledge of all product lines and markets, manufacturing applications, equipment used in the application process and knowledge of competitive products.

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Financial acumen to analyze financial results and new market opportunities.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint are required.
  • The ability to travel approximately 20% is required.
  • Strong team/project management, communications, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Ability to maintain a keen attention to detail, multitask and work well under pressure.
  • Natural tendency to be curious, positive, and creative.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's Degree required in business, engineering, marketing, or a comparable discipline, required; MBA, preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of product management experience; new product development experience, from inception to product introduction and full product lifecycle management preferred.

This role reports directly to the Commercial President for the division.
