Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Product Owner to lead the development and execution of data products within our Data & Analytics team at NYC H+H. As the Product Owner, you will be responsible for defining and prioritizing the product backlog, ensuring that our data and analytics initiatives align with the broader goals of the healthcare organization. This role is pivotal in transforming complex healthcare data into actionable insights that drive clinical, operational, and financial improvements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the product manager and business stakeholders to build the product roadmap
  • Prioritize and maintain the product backlog
  • Write clear, concise user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Act as the primary liaison between business, design and engineering stakeholders
  • Work closely with the scrum team to ensure timely and high quality product launches
  • Lead sprint refinement and sprint planning sessions
  • Participate in standup, sprint reviews and retrospectives
  • Lead user acceptance testing with business stakeholders and ensure that product features meet user requirements prior to launch
  • Capture business requirements and data needs in a business requirements document
  • Partner closely with data analysts to document data flow diagrams, current and future state workflow as well as to perform data discovery and data gap analysis between systems
  • Partner with design to create wireframe and prototypes of data products. Capture feedback and iterate
  • Use quantitative and qualitative metrics to evaluate product performance, customer satisfaction and effectiveness of meeting business objectives.


Minimum Qualifications
1. A Baccalaureate Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, applied Mathematics, Business Administration, Economics/Statistics, Telecommunications, Data Communications, or a related field of study; and
2. Five (5) years of progressive, responsible experience in the field of data processing, computer systems and applications.
Operations Specialty requires supervisory experience (5 years).
Network Services requires a telecommunications background and experience.
3. Broad knowledge and expertise in the characteristics of computers, peripheral devices, communications systems and hardware capabilities, programming languages, E.D.P. applications, systems analysis methodology, data management and retrieval techniques; or
4. A satisfactory equivalent combination of training, education and experience.

Department Preferences

Certification(S)/NYS Licenses/Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as data science, computer science, informatics, or healthcare management. Advanced degree preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and other Requirements:
  • Experience launching data products within healthcare
  • Experience as a business or data analyst within healthcare
  • Excellent communication skills - particularly experience managing stakeholder communications and expectations in a complex environment
  • Experience working within an agile environment
  • Experience with SQL

Years of Experience:
  • At least 3 years of product management experience

Computer Programs / Software Operated:
  • Microsoft tools such as Word, Excel and PPT
  • Workflow diagramming tools such as Visio and Miro
  • Wireframing and prototyping tools such as Figma
  • BI tools such as Tableau and Looker
  • Familiarity with data storage platform such as Snowflake
