The Production Engineer conducts moderate to complex engineering studies using advanced engineering concepts and provides operational support for the Companys assets. This role is responsible for daily engineering and production activities, emphasizing job quality, safety, and cost associated with all production activities. Activities include workovers, completions including vertical and HZ frac, well maintenance, and daily base production surveillance. Occasionally serves as task leader or team leader on assignments requiring a broad engineering knowledge with minimal supervision and guidance from management. Key Accountabilities

  • Pursues and implements new methods and ideas to enhance production, increase operational efficiencies, and decrease expenses.
  • Continually grows skill set through the application of established processes.
  • Independently performs key operations and functions.
  • Monitors daily well performance and optimizes operations.
  • Recommends changes to processes based on previous observations.
  • Occasionally mentors, guides, or directs less experienced engineers.
  • Performs all conventional aspects of engineering work.
  • Exercises independence in evaluating, selecting, and engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Develops recommendations for more challenging and complex issues.
  • Uses independent judgment in making and prioritizing limited adaptations and modifications.
  • Communicates new information when available.
  • Complies with all governmental regulations, procedures, and practices.
  • Complies with all the Companys Safety and Environmental policies, practices, and programs. Takes corrective action within training limitations. Escalates as necessary.
  • Participates in and adheres to all training programs designed to enhance HSE knowledge, safety standards, and improve job performance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education, Certificates, Licenses

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field required
  • Masters Degree in Engineering or related field preferred
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 6 years of prior relevant work experience in oil and gas exploration and production
  • Minimum of 3 years in production, facilities, and field operations

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Critical:

  • Advanced working knowledge of broad-based engineering practices, theories, and principles.
  • Demonstrated use of standard techniques, modifications, and extension of engineering theories, precepts, and field practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and oil & gas economic software: Spotfire, Aries (or equivalent); LOWIS or EXPOC, OFM
  • Communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Advanced computer skills.
  • Time management and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple, competing priorities.
  • Ability to efficiently resolve conflicts through constructive resolutions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment to produce results.

Required:

  • Basic knowledge of oil and gas law, including types of oil and gas interests and conveyances, and execution and recordation of title instruments.
  • Basic knowledge of operating agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret codes, regulations, and practices.
  • Demonstrated positive attitude and support for company culture and goals.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Experience in workover program development and execution.
  • Experience in downhole pumping design and optimization.
  • Experience in P&A program development and execution.
  • Regional experience in several oil and gas-producing basins, including exposure to heavy oil (<16 API) sandstone reservoirs, and thermal operations.

Desired:

  • Experience as a mentor in a production engineering role
  • Additional certifications and/or qualifications within the area of specialty that would enhance working knowledge and capabilities

Work Environment

  • Primarily office work environment.
  • Routine work involves common office activities during a typical 9-hour day such as standing, sitting, walking, typing, and twisting as necessary.
  • May be required to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must follow all company safety policies, including when visiting field locations.

Compensation and Benefits

The pay range for this position in California is between $127,720 $151,668

annually based on a full-time schedule.Please note that the annual salary information is a general guideline, and that annual salary will vary depending on your location and that Berry Corporation (Berry) will consider factors such as (but not limited to) scope of responsibilities of the position, candidates work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considers when extending an offer.This position is eligible for short-term cash incentive bonus and long-term incentive awarded in restricted share units, excellent benefits including full health benefits, 401(k) with company match and immediate vesting, tuition reimbursement, 9/80 flex schedules, and generous paid time off.
