Overview

The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of internal production, including supervising department leads, optimizing production workflows, ensuring timely deliveries, managing material yield, and maintaining product quality. This role also supports the establishment and maintenance of top-tier safety standards and ensures adherence to health and safety procedures.

Key Functions & Responsibilities of the Production Manager
  • Direct and coordinate daily operations to meet quality and delivery expectations.
  • Collaborate with departmental managers to achieve manufacturing objectives in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Monitor department performance against production and quality standards, ensuring compliance with standard operating procedures.
  • Control and minimize labor overtime, premium freight, and repair expenses.
  • Provide leadership and development to production leads.
  • Communicate company strategy and mission, and implement coaching practices to align personnel with company goals.
  • Develop and execute a retention plan for key positions, ensuring employee skill development and engagement.
  • Implement improved operating methods and procedures to increase productivity.
  • Assist with resolving issues to meet production schedules and maintain quality standards.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and plant personnel to plan maintenance needs, minimizing downtime.
  • Promote Lean Manufacturing practices and manage production costs.
  • Utilize Quality, Lean, OEE, and 6S tools to analyze problems and develop solutions to meet departmental objectives.
  • Recommend and establish departmental organization and responsibilities to meet objectives.
  • Evaluate and recommend equipment purchases to improve operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience, Skills, and Abilities of the Production Manager
  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Engineering or Metallurgy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning.
  • Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing management experience, preferably in a foundry.
  • Strong leadership, team building, and advanced coaching skills.
  • Experience with continuous improvement tools such as Lean, 6S, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems in a production environment, Microsoft Office programs, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to interact with all levels and departments within the company, work under minimal supervision, and rely on experience and sound judgment to accomplish goals.
Working Hours and Conditions, including Travel Required:

Salaried exempt, limited travel, loud noise, exposure to environmental heat, some exposure to outdoor environment/elements.
