This role supervises the production team, ensuring that all processes, materials, and equipment are optimized to meet production goals and company standards. The Associate Production Manager will work closely with Production Manager and production team to drive improvements in safety, quality, cost, and productivity. This role is responsible for implementing and managing the food-safety program and new certifications (SQF).

Job Summary/Objective:
The Associate Production Manager supports the overall success and efficiency of the Manufacturing department. This role supervises the production team, ensuring that all processes, materials, and equipment are optimized to meet production goals and company standards. The Associate Production Manager will work closely with Production Manager and production team to drive improvements in safety, quality, cost, and productivity. This role is responsible for implementing and managing the food-safety program and new certifications (SQF).
Essential Functions:
- Plan, direct, and coordinate the manufacturing of bakery products in compliance with company goals and objectives.
- Analyze delivery and inventory issues, providing effective solutions.
- Develop and implement solutions to improve safety, quality, cost, and productivity within the production environment.
- Investigate and analyze new processes to enhance production efficiency.
- Manage activities to improve team member retention, including safety, training, engagement, and development.
- Maintain proper employment levels by selecting, interviewing, and training personnel.
- Ensure flexibility in meeting production plans through effective use of personnel resources.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary operation according to SQF policies.
- Oversee inventory management and raw material procurement.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to address mechanical downtime and related concerns.
- Demonstrate effective organizational skills, multitask, and communicate effectively with internal stakeholders.
- Manage and complete daily and long-term goals efficiently.
- Setup and manage Food Safety program objectives and programs.
- Conduct verification and maintenance of food safety and quality systems, hazard analysis, sanitation processes, prerequisite programs, manufacturing processes, and finished products.
- Verify HACCP, SQF, Preoperational checks, and SSOP checks ensuring records are accurate and complete, and that corrective actions are followed as defined in the HACCP plan.
- Immediately notify quality management of any conditions, ingredients, or products that may not meet food safety, quality, or customer/company requirements, and provide suggestions for addressing these concerns.
- Accurately and promptly complete all records and electronic transactions, maintaining a clean, neat, and orderly laboratory environment.
- Train associates on FSQA programs and practices.

Work Environment:
- Predominantly inside a manufacturing production facility
- Exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels, and food ingredients
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed
- Ability to stand and walk on a concrete floor for prolonged periods
- Must wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hair net, beard net, ear plugs, safety shoes, and uniform
Position Type:

Work Hours:
- Standard hours: Monday to Thursday 4AM - 2:30 PM
- Flexibility to work different shifts and schedules as needed
Travel:
- Minimal travel required; primarily local
Required Education & Experience:
- 3-5 years of production/manufacturing experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role within manufacturing
- Knowledge and training in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), allergen handling, wash-down procedures, food defense, and HACCP
- HAACP and PCQI training and certification
- Bilingual in English and Spanish
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field
- Experience with JD Edwards or similar ERP systems
- Familiarity with industrial donut and gluten-free manufacturing processes
- SQF Practitioner
