A leading ship repair company is seeking a Production Manager to lead the execution of the yard's commercial ship repair projects.

The Production Manager will have the following responsibilities:

  • Lead all service projects, instill company values, and develop a leadership team through recruiting, training, and assigning responsibilities.
  • Manage and develop the workforce, focusing on continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Define recruiting needs and oversee training for craft trades and contractors.
  • Meet project objectives for cost, schedule, and quality. Analyze project status and projections, and utilize data to increase workforce efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Collaborate with HR to train, promote, and manage production supervision and employees, ensuring compliance with company policies and laws.
  • Align operations with production and project management, support facilities and production needs, and manage quality control and testing programs.
  • Represent the company in key relationships with stakeholders.
  • Uphold health and safety policies, develop partnerships to ensure worker safety, and manage temporary labor supply.
  • Provide data for estimates and cost proposals, and assist in maintaining a library of standards and efficiency targets.


The ideal Production Manager candidate will have the following skillset:

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, with 10+ years of marine experience.
  • Working knowledge of ship construction, repair, and conversion, including vessel types and systems.
  • Proven ability to build, staff, and lead teams effectively.
  • Experienced in addressing workflow and efficiency challenges in a marine environment, leading to improved project execution and profitability.
  • Established reputation for enhancing productivity and profit in similar project cycles.
  • Experience with budgets, scheduling, material cost control, and personnel management.
  • Able to read and understand work specifications, blueprints, contracts, and technical publications.
  • Skilled in managing competing priorities and deadlines, and handling high-priority, time-sensitive projects.
  • Ability to schedule, direct, and organize work within a diverse department, coordinating with other departments for efficiency and team building.
  • Familiar with accounting systems, material procurement, and computer systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and database programs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project for scheduling.
  • Knowledgeable in shipyard production procedures, government regulations, ship repair methods, and administrative procedures.
  • Maintains professional knowledge through workshops, publications, networking, and professional societies.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and customer-focused self-starter with a sense of urgency and passion for excellence.
  • Skilled in conflict resolution and achieving consensus while maintaining stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong understanding of rules, regulations, and standard practices of regulatory bodies like USCG and classification societies.
