The Opportunity

Abbott Rapid Diagnostics is part of Abbott's Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies to support diagnostic testing which provides important information for treatment and management of diseases and other conditions.

The position of Production Manager is within our Infectious Disease -business unit located in Scarborough, Maine. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing and leading all production operations ensuring reliability and efficiency while achieving production schedules to meet finished products demand. The Production Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure production demand is met as well as quality and compliance.

What You'll Work On

  • Maintains a high functioning production staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting and training employees. Ensures policies and procedures are adhered to through coaching, counseling, disciplining, and rewarding employees.
  • Maintains a safe work environment.
  • Communicates job expectations. Plans, monitors and appraises results.
  • Enhances productivity by trending data and seeking gains in efficiency. Finds and recommends root cause solutions.
  • Work as a team player by seeking the advice of and lending advice to other members of the management team. Seeks improvement through positive change in all areas of operations.
  • Works closely with Director of Operations to ensure production objectives are met.
  • Author's objective performance evaluations for production staff.


Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise employees in Production. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Business Administration, Engineering, or related technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible work experience in a high-volume, multi-product manufacturing environment, preferably in the medical device industry.
  • 5 years of direct supervisory experience.
  • Availability 24 hours/day to support 24 hours of Manufacturing when reasonably needed.
  • Significant experience leading and implementing lean manufacturing/Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Solid knowledge of GMP and ISO regulations.
  • Significant experience in identifying and driving operational change and excellence.
  • Strong communication skills to present to and educate various levels of divisional leadership and personnel.
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills to influence consistent project management practices across Abbott.
  • Strong organizational skills.


Preferred Qualifications
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 3+ years' experience in Manufacturing
  • Six Sigma Black Belt

The base pay for this position is
$97,300.00 - $194,700.00
In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
