Position Summary:
Plans, directs, and manages all production operations. Develops and leads the programs necessary to drive equipment uptime and utilization in all production areas as well as supporting functions within operations. Ensures the focus and direction to achieve and sustain safe, quality production and operational excellence.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provides leadership and direction to the operations personnel with the establishment of clear goals and objectives aligned with Lafayette's business plan. Manages the operation group in the development and implementation of OEE, scrap reduction, and process improvement projects. Trains, develops, and mentors supervisors and group leaders in operations. Develops clear goals and objectives with accountability to cost, quality, safety, housekeeping, and the achievement of key operations metrics related to scrap, uptime and utilization and the achievement of the production plan. Maintains accountability and responsibility to continuous improvement within all areas of operations with a focus to organization, housekeeping, and safety. Ensures the cross training of all production employees using SWI's, visual work instructions and on the job training. Acts as the liaison with planning to interpret the SOP into a department level production plan. Maintains operating budget for operations. Drives accountability to utilization of inline detection systems and assures proper follow up and reaction of all operations personnel. Leads and/or participates on various project teams including, but not limited to capital investments activities to maintain uptime and utilization necessary to support the achievement of the production plan. Works in conjunction with OpeX and Quality to champion process improvement initiatives within the plant. Promotes and drives change and continuous improvement through the OpX systems and tool application. Evaluates the OpX system to establish new goals and objectives. Recommends priorities on implementation of continuous improvements and coordinates these activities with the respective plant manager. Facilitates, mentors, and supports project leaders and champions on the application of the OpX tools to guarantee success. Supports development of Rea facility managers, hourly workforce, and salary workforce in OpX and change leadership. May supervise direct reports or project leaders/team as assigned. Other work-related duties as assigned.
Qualification Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant field required. MBA preferred.
Prior Supervisory Experience required.
Ability to lead and motivate others with excellent communication and analytical skills required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office with the ability to acquire, analyze and present data effectively.
Knowledge of key operating metrics and financial analysis.
Qualifications Desired:
Experience in leading lean transformation efforts.
Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
Education/Certification in supervisory/management and business-related topics.
