Professor of Practice of Gender and Sexuality Studies The Gender and Sexuality Studies (GESS) Program at Tulane University is seeking a full-time Professor of Practice (non-tenure track). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the interdisciplinary field of Gender and Sexuality Studies, including its histories and futures. The teaching load is three courses per semester in GESS, an interdisciplinary program housed in the School of Liberal Arts at Tulane: https://liberalarts.tulane.edu/gender-sexuality-studies. Tulane University is an R1 institution with a commitment to liberal arts undergraduate education and our faculty are committed to close faculty-student interaction. GESS offers an undergraduate major and minor, as well as a graduate certificate. The successful candidate would be expected to teach courses across the core curriculum of GESS, including introductory and advanced theory classes: https://liberalarts.tulane.edu/gender-sexuality-studies/course-descriptions/. The candidate would also be expected to develop course offerings (seminar or lecture) in their area of specialization within Gender and Sexuality Studies. Area of specialization is open, but the program has a strong interest in the following:
Qualifications
GESS is committed to multi- and inter-disciplinarity. Candidates should have a completed Ph.D. in the field of Gender and Sexuality Studies, or a humanities or social science discipline with evidence of expertise in gender and/or sexuality. ABD candidates will be considered. The start date for this position is July 1, 2024. Professor of Practice positions at Tulane are multi-year, renewable contracts, a competitive benefits package, and funding for professional development.
