The Department of Biomedical Engineering (http://bme.osu.edu) at The Ohio State University invite applications for a regular tenure-track faculty appointment in the area of pediatric cardiovascular bioengineering. This appointment requires a dual appointment with The Center for Cardiovascular Research in the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital where research will be conducted.
Position Overview
The Department of Biomedical Engineering is seeking applications from exceptional candidates for a tenure-track position in pediatric cardiovascular bioengineering anticipated to be appointed at the Professor level. This application will complement and add to our departmental expertise in cardiovascular disease with an independent and supported research program through The Center for Cardiovascular Research in the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital and contribute to our world-class educational program. In particular, the successful candidate will lead a research program with a focus in blood vessel biology, gene therapy for cardiovascular disease, cardiac metabolism, and bioinformatics/data science.

Performance Objectives
- Contribute to research activities of The Center for Cardiovascular Research in the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital, and develop and maintain a nationally and internationally recognized and externally funded research program in pediatric cardiovascular disease and/or relevant basic science area.
- Teach and mentor students at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and to supervise student research.
- Build on collaborations between Biomedical Engineering and The Center for Cardiovascular Research in the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital to establish research collaboration opportunities.
Education and Experience Requirements
Required:
- Doctorate (PhD or equivalent) in Biomedical Engineering or related field
- High-quality and high-impact research that is evident by a strong publication record and grant writing experience
- High-quality education and mentoring experience that is evident from student mentoring and achievements of mentored students, teaching feedback, and presentation skills
- A record of advising, mentoring, motivating, and impacting students from all backgrounds, including students from underrepresented groups
- Competitive peer-reviewed research funding.
- Demonstrated ability to attract and mentor graduate students.
- A commitment to engage in research, teaching, and/or outreach and engagement that reflect Ohio State's Shared Values
- Maintain a dual appointment with The Center for Cardiovascular Research in the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital
Desired:
- Current K-award, R01 or equivalent independent grant funding is highly desired
- A commitment to interdisciplinary education and collaborative research
- Demonstrated innovative thinking, openness to sharing ideas and collaboration with colleagues
- A familiarity working with campus administrators and leaders
