Job Summary

Administers all finance, human resources and facilities and other operational activities for small to mid-sized academic or research program. Administers major program components, and some or all of the program's operational requirements. Develops and organizes conferences and other public forums. Works under direction of Principal Investigator or more senior Academic Program Officer to establish center agenda, funding, objectives.

The Roybal Lab and the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy seeks an a Program Coordinator to help coordinate the rapid development of advanced cellular therapies from drug candidate selection to clinical trials at UCSF. The Program Coordinator provides comprehensive academic, administrative, research, and analytical support to the Institute Director (Dr. Kole Roybal) to carry out the specific aims and milestones required for cell therapy development and related discovery projects for next generation cell therapies. The Institute will develop and expand the capabilities for high-throughput cell therapy design and selection for difficult to treat solid tumors and will develop a streamlined pipeline for cell therapy manufacturing and clinical implementation to achieve patient impact. The program will interface with key collaborators within the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy and UCSF to build an efficient pipeline from cell therapy development to clinical translation.

Role will be managing the clinical development of cell therapies for solid tumors (e.g. osteosarcoma and leiomyosarcoma) and critical long-term projects in the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy and the Roybal Lab. Formulates timelines and strategic goals and keeps track of critical data for cell therapy candidate selection, cellular manufacturing, regulatory filings with the FDA, and clinical data. Helps to manage third party interactions and program budget and other related resources.

Advanced degree in related area and three years of related experience in cell therapy research and translation and/ or equivalent experience / training required. Familiarity with project management software would be beneficial.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $87,900 - $187,700 (Annual Rate).

Required Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in related area and three years of related experience in science and/ or equivalent experience / training required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks; ability to meet deadlines and follow through on assigned duties; ability to work well under pressure; ability to maintain a service-oriented approach
  • Academic background and experience in selected area of research preferred.
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Office, including Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint), Outlook, email.
  • Solid fundraising experience.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively with internal and external peers and managers.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse groups to achieve results.
  • Strong ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring advanced analytical skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Terminal degree in a related area (PhD, JD, MD, etc.) and / or equivalent experience / training preferred
  • Familiarity with project management software.
  • Prior UCSF experience, with knowledge of HR-SRS, MyReports, MyExpense, BearBuy.
  • Thorough knowledge of administrative, budgetary, human resources and financial principles and practices.
