Essential Duties

1.Develop annual co-curricular DEI learning objectives in partnership with leadership and create initiatives to best accomplish these goals. 2.Own strategic portfolio of work to achieve DEI learning objectives, including co-curricular programming, resources, and partnerships. Manage DEI programming budget for the office. 3.Serve as resident DEI learning expert for the community. Directly facilitate programming, as well as build an external network of DEI subject matter experts to supplement offerings with vendor-led virtual and in-person training. 4.Create innovative vehicles to promote safe spaces for students, staff, and faculty to find and build community, including restorative justice circles, bespoke programming, and affinity-based networking opportunities. 5.Oversee the work of support staff as it relates to programming. Partner with colleagues in other departments who are driving aspects of DEI work in their roles. 6.Serve as one of the school's Discrimination and Harassment Resource Coordinators. Be accessible to any community member who has experienced harm related to identity and support them through listening, validating, and navigating next steps and university procedures. 7.Guide the student-run Affinity Clubs through overseeing a community of practice for affinity leadership. Advise, share best practices, and support club initiatives with an emphasis on cross-club collaboration and intersectionality. 8.Contribute towards the school's celebration of Affinity Months and cultural celebrations. Lead OID programming, activities, celebrations, acknowledgments. 9.May be assigned to serve on key committees and to other projects or initiatives.

Position Focus:

Works closely with the Associate Cancer Center Director for DEI, internal and external colleagues to develop new initiatives to support the Plan to Enhance Diversity and implementation of long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcomes that create a culture of inclusive excellence.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Master's degree or higher in a related field and experience implementing DEI initiatives, managing multiple tasks and conducting initiatives/events in a timely and effective manner. Strong writing skills.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Act as a central point of contact for stakeholders including Yale Cancer Center communications, responding to questions and concerns related to DEI. Builds and maintains a program evaluation framework (metrics) to assess the strengths of each DEI program and initiative to identify areas of improvement.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Monitors the DEI initiatives on a regular basis and conducts an annual evaluation to ensure that the program meets its stated goals and aims, according to evaluation framework. Reports evaluation findings to appropriate stakeholders and recommends changes to enhance the program.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Investigates, identifies, implements, and oversees the maintenance of systems to gather, track and report information to support the DEI initiatives, including the creation of a YCC specific system to gather membership demographics. Maintains databases of collected data.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Tracks all program activities and regularly informs the AD for DEI of progress on each initiative. Recommends structural or programmatic adjustments, changes or additions based on knowledge of the mission, goals, and objectives of YCC and the Plan to Enhance Diversity. Plays a key role in strategic planning.
