WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services is currently seeking an energetic and knowledgeable professional who is a Maryland Licensed Environmental Health Specialist. The ideal candidate should be able to provide first-line supervision to Licensed Environmental Health Specialists in a multifaceted environmental health program within the Department of Licensure and Regulatory Services as a Program Manager II.

What You'll Be Doing
This role serves as an integral part of the overall mission of Montgomery County Health and Human Services to promote and ensure the health and safety of the residents of Montgomery County by:
  • Training and supervising Environmental Health Specialists.
  • Quickly addressing and responding to internal and external concerns/complaints.
  • Developing and revising sound policies and procedures.
  • Collaborating on projects with upper management.
  • Managing and monitoring Environmental Health Specialists' daily agendas.
  • Conducting routine field inspections/investigations when warranted


The Program Manager II position requires offsite work as well as some evening and weekend work. Candidates will be required to travel to different locations within the County.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Thorough five (5) years of professional experience as a Licensed Environmental Health Specialist. Supervisory Experience required.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Licenses:
  • Maryland License Environmental Health Specialist
  • Possession and maintenance at all times of a valid Class "C" (or equivalent) driver's license from the applicant's state of residence

Preferred Criteria:

    Leave Benefits

    Our generous leave package starts with non-MLS permanent and term employees earning 15 days of sick leave and 15 days of annual leave in their first year, as well as up to three additional personal days each calendar year. Positions in MLS earn 35 days of paid time off each year. In addition, we offer all employees 10 paid holidays.     Retirement Benefits

    All permanent and term positions are eligible for robust retirement plans. Public safety positions are eligible for a defined benefit pension plan in which they are vested after only five years. All employees can also participate in a supplemental retirement plan, the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, to contribute even more to their retirement goals.
