Essential Duties

1. Oversees the advancement and growth of the program. Gives direction and leadership supporting the philosophy, mission, strategy, and annual goals and objectives. Assumes primary accountability for disseminating and publishing all program information to create public awareness and support of the program. 2. Works closely with leadership, internal and external colleagues, and community residents to further develop and implement strategic plans. 3. Identifies, solicits, and cultivates community partnerships and collaborations to assist in the development and growth of the program. Develops the metrics to identify and measure the success of the program. Responsible for measurements of grant success and related evaluation. 4. Assists in identifying and evaluating potential future funding sources, and contributes to the submission of grants and contracts supporting the program, including the annual submission and writing of all content areas and budgetary sections of grant applications. Develops and manages the program's operating budget. 5. Develops the administrative infrastructure of the program. Manages human resource and administrative functions of the program, including staffing and hiring, supervision, performance development, counseling and discipline, if warranted. Oversees and manages information systems, facilities, and space needs. 6. Investigates, identifies, implements, and oversees the maintenance of systems to gather, track, and report information to support the initiatives of the program. Tracks all program activities and regularly informs leadership of progress on each initiative. Recommends structural or programmatic adjustments, changes or additions based on full knowledge of missions, goals, and objectives. 7. Initiates, designs, and manages the compilation of program communications; identifying outreach potential, and promoting philanthropic and collaborative support of the program. Contributes to the development and assists in the management of content on the program's website and monitors all changes and additions to the editorial content. 8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Minimum requirement of Bachelor's Degree in a related field and four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience.

Position Focus:

This position will be responsible for independently managing several areas within global health research and training programs of the Ko Group in the Department of Epidemiology of Microbial Diseases at the Yale School of Public Health. The Ko Group includes a multi-disciplinary team of investigators and trainees from several countries, primarily the US and Brazil, who are dedicated to developing solutions to prevent global infectious diseases and their impact on health outcomes and equity. The program manager's primary role is to support research across the Ko Group and to coordinate a NIH and China Medical Board-supported global health research training programs for postdoctoral fellows and doctoral students working at 17 international sites.

Essential Duties include coordinate a NIH-supported multi-center global health research training program. These activities include recruiting fellows, implementing fellowships, establishing subcontracts and budget plans at international sites, collaborating with leadership and staff at international sites to evaluate the progress of research and training, and preparing progress reports. Manage multi-site research. These activities include preparing and delivering reports and action plans for team members, assessing project performance, coordinating cross-project activities, acting as the main liaison with collaborators and reporting to leadership and funders on the progress of each initiative. This position is also responsible for developing original IRB submissions and maintaining active IRB approvals. Coordinate and support established grants. These activities include setting up and managing subcontracts, developing budget plans, monitoring budgeted program expenditures, overseeing accounting activities in collaboration with the Business Office at YSPH and ensuring programs operate according to established accounting policies and procedures. In addition, this position will provide logistical support for the submission of new grant proposals. Support the administrative infrastructure of the program. Manage human resource and administrative functions of the program, including staffing and hiring. Oversee and manage information systems, facilities, and space needs. Provide logistical support to undergraduates, MPH and PhD students and postdoctoral trainees within the group as they develop their global health research projects.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

Master's degree in public health. Understanding of academic and NIH grant systems. Fluency in statistical software for data analysis. Knowledge of Portuguese and/or Spanish is not a prerequisite but would be useful.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Demonstrated experience with grants management and grant coordination, especially in coordination of international projects and contracts, clinical protocols and establishment of IRB protocols.
