Position Description

We're searching for two highly skilled project managers to coordinate internal and cross-department projects and help us maintain our position as an innovative authority. The ideal candidates will have significant project management experience, strong work plan development and progress oversight skills, and will be able to communicate well with teams that have competing priorities. The people in these positions will be expected to prepare and present progress updates to appropriate management channels on a regular basis, ensuring the innovation we seek is achieved.

These positions will develop and implement strategic plans, policies, and projects on administrative and operational issues for the department. They will administer and manage a variety of programs and projects that are needed for the department, including technology projects, programmatic improvements or enhancements, and compliance requirements. These positions will report to the Director of Program Development.
Job Responsibilities

Job Objectives and Responsibilities:
  • Build and develop the project plan to ensure maximum performance, providing purpose, direction, and motivation for assigned projects.
  • Lead projects from requirements definition through deployment, identifying schedules, scopes, budget estimations, and project implementation plans, including risk mitigation, and navigate City of Seattle requirements for technology acquisition.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources, ensuring projects remain within scope, schedule, and defined budgets, in collaboration with project staff from various functional departments.
  • Analyze project progress and, when necessary, adapt scope, timelines, and costs to ensure that project team adheres to project requirements.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with appropriate client stakeholders, providing day-to-day contact on project status and changes.
  • Assist with development and execution of change management strategies to mitigate resistance and increase compliance with new systems, hardware, and policies.
  • Increase the use of data to make informed project decisions and evaluate effectiveness of new systems, processes, and procedures.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
A bachelor's degree public administration, business administration, or related field and two years of responsible project management experience in the public sector are required (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work).

Desired Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated effective project management experience.
  • Proven success working with all levels of management.
  • Strong written and verbal communication/interpersonal skills.
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Ability to communicate project approach and tasks to audiences unfamiliar with project management jargon.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Willingness to work on-site and during non-business hours, as needed.
Position Requirements:
  • Must pass a Seattle Police Department background investigation.
  • Must have a valid Driver's license.
  • This position is a hybrid position; the City requires the position be in person 2 days a week. Individual schedules will be based on agreement between the employee and their supervisor.

The full salary range for this position is $52.50 - $78.78 per hour. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) regular position with full benefits, is FLSA exempt (not eligible for overtime), and falls under the discretionary pay band (for additional information, please visit ).
