Launched as part of a university-wide focus and expansion on ASU's West Valley Campus, the School of Technology, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship (TIE) is a new academic unit within the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. With a strong focus on innovation and entrepreneurship - especially as it relates to technology and technology-oriented contexts - the Center for Small and Medium-sized Businesses was created. It is dedicated to supporting and empowering small and medium businesses (SMB) in their growth & sustainability. It serves as a vital resource hub, providing specialized programs, research, experiential-learning for students and networking opportunities to address the unique challenges faced by these enterprises.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our team as a Program Manager. The candidate will play a crucial role in managing projects involving experiential learning and engagement with small and medium businesses (SMBs). This position requires excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills to ensure the successful execution of projects from conception to completion, in collaboration with various stakeholders, faculty, and students. They must work collaboratively with stakeholders to plan, direct, organize, and execute against project requirements; identify and acquire necessary resources and coordinates efforts by all parties to ensure timely delivery of project outcomes in accordance with the Center and clientele's expectations.

Working Environment

Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, standing, walking. Visual acuity and manual dexterity associated with daily use of desktop computer; bending, stooping, reaching and lifting up to 20 pounds. Ability to clearly communicate verbally in English, read, write, see and hear to perform essential duties. Regular review of completed tasks.

Flexible work options
  • Alternative work schedules can include four, 10-hour workdays in a workweek; a nine-day, 80-hour schedule over two workweeks for exempt employees only; and staggered start and stop times.
  • Hybrid work is an arrangement where employees spend a minimum of 60% of their regular workweek at their primary ASU work location. Dean or vice president-level approval is required.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field AND five years administrative/coordination experience; OR, Master's degree in field appropriate to area of assignment AND three years administrative/coordination experience; OR Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Experience in managing complex technology and business projects
  • Experience in clarifying roles and responsibilities to ensure understanding of expectations; swiftness and wisdom in action-taking to mitigate conflict

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and proficient in use of standard project management and change management practices

Essential Duties

  • Work closely and collaboratively with all stakeholders to plan, direct, organize, and execute against project requirements.
  • Identify critical resource expertise and target appropriate internal and/or external sources to ensure optimal outcome. Coordinate efforts by all parties to ensure timely delivery of project outcomes in accordance with client's expectations.
  • Develop and monitor project plans, timelines, and progress continually, ensuring adherence to project goals, and addressing any issues or challenges that arise.
  • Track milestones, deliverables, critical paths, and dependencies; re-set expectations for all parties as needed in consideration of project progress.
  • Evaluate project outcomes and gather feedback for continuous improvement of future projects and client engagement.
  • Facilitate clear communication and collaboration between faculty, students, and business partners to ensure a seamless project experience.
  • Respond to all internal inquiries regarding project status; provide regular updates to leadership and stakeholders and prepare for all regulatory reporting/filings to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare all post-project reports, budget allocations and summaries/filings to ensure timely dissemination of information to all interested parties.
  • Support the strategic planning and scaling of the experiential learning and SMB engagement initiatives.
  • Other duties, as assigned
