This position will be responsible for the functional aspects of the STARLIMS applications in all environments (i.e., Production, Test, and Development).This includes maintaining core system functionalities as well as developing and implementing new functionality based upon functional requirements / designs provided by key stakeholders from the laboratory. As a member of the team, you will work in a highly dynamic, fast changing and fluid work environment. You may also participate in other software development tasks, working to improve integration LIMS and other software platforms used by the business, with the overall goal being to improve efficiency throughout ChemTrace.You will work in a self-directed environment where strong teamwork, individual initiatives and accountability are highly valued.

You will have the following responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve any and all software related functional problems identified within any of the STARLIMS environments.
  • Develop new custom functionality/interfaces within the STARLIMS Development environment, perform all alpha testing of the new functionality, and propagate the functionality to the Test and Production systems when beta testing is complete.
  • Develop new queries and/or reports in STARLIMS as needed.
  • Assist in directing the validation and testing strategies for STARLIMS functionality upgrades and functional enhancements/customization releases.
  • Act as the in-house technical lead for all STARLIMS related questions and issues and be the main point of contact between ChemTrace and Starlims, Corp. if external technical support is required, acting as liaison between internal IT and STARLIMS IT whenever necessary.
  • Maintain, modify, or troubleshoot configurations and integrations with interfacing systems.
  • Participate in program/projects and assist in design, development and implementation of LIMS solutions.
  • Collaborate as part of a project team to analyze and implement new features within STARLIMS ES.
  • Assist in business analysis efforts as necessary by collecting requirements from different groups, taking user needs and translating them into design documents to be approved by laboratory senior management for subsequent development.
  • Review, analyze, and modify programming systems including encoding, testing, and debugging to support LIMS enhancement/customizations.
  • Provide quality, timely and accurate system analysis / design / configuration / operational support / production support.
  • Assist in the development of STARLIMS training reference materials for end users.
  • Maintain documentation and other tools to support STARLIMS for both technical & non-technical end users.
  • Develop best practices, standards and IT processes.
  • Document processes and procedures related to IT/IS.

The successful candidate WILL either have or currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's or PhD degree and have the following qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Technology, or Management Information Systems.
  • Possess a minimum of 10 years as software developer, with a minimum of 5 years working with STARLIMS Scripting Language (SSL).
  • Possess a minimum of 5 years experience developing reports using Crystal reports.
  • Experience working with certified analytical testing laboratories, experience in semi-conductor industry is preferred.
  • Software Development Life Cycle experience preferred.
  • Cloud based implementation of data systems preferred.
  • Must be able to understand business requirements and work with STARLIMS business analyst to translate them into IT solutions.
  • Possess a good working knowledge of programming languages and databases.
  • Must have experience working in a team environment.
  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate with both coworkers and clients.
  • Must have the ability to work in a dynamic and culturally diverse environment across multiple time zones.
  • Leadership qualities: Integrity, attention to detail, timeline sensitivity, goal-oriented, motivator, technical/analytical background.
  • Must be able to provide project support with consistent compliance to corporate policies, procedures, and ethics.
  • Should be able to achieve QA (accuracy, timeliness, and completeness) of results through effective scheduling of tasks, coordination of activities across multiple projects and initiatives.
  • Effective time management through balancing operational and production support responsibilities, ad-hoc requests and project-related activities and support.
  • Desired education or classroom experience in programming languages.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) will be helpful.
