About the role:

We're looking for a skilled Project Architect to take the lead on high-end residential projects. In this role, you'll meet with clients to understand their needs, develop thoughtful design concepts, and guide the technical design process with a focus on quality and detail. A strong knowledge of materials, construction methods, and a passion for precision are essential. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in luxury residential project and be confident collaborating with clients, consultants, and internal teams. This role can work onsite in our Santa Barbara office, or remote from a home office in Ventura County or Los Angeles County.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary client contact throughout the design and construction phases.
  • Lead client meetings to gather requirements, present design concepts, and ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Develop detailed architectural designs and technical documentation, ensuring compliance with all relevant building codes and standards including internal QAQC protocols. Collaborate with consultants and contractors to ensure the successful execution of design intent.
  • Provide expertise on materials and detailing.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables to ensure successful project completion.
  • Coordinate with visualization team, BIM Manager, and mentor junior design staff, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented team environment.
  • Stay up-to-date on best practices and innovations in high-end residential design.
  • Provides on-site Construction Administration, including managing responses to RFI's and submittals. Works closely with our Construction team to solve in-field questions.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience, with a strong focus on high-end residential projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of materials and construction methods, with demonstrated expertise in detailing (e.g., flashing, windows).
  • Licensed Architect in the state of California with experience in local laws and codes is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, and Bluebeam for design and documentation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey design intent clearly to clients and consultants.
  • Experience managing projects from concept through completion, including client relationships, team coordination, and project delivery.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail. Self-motivated, able to work independently and take initiative while managing multiple tasks collaboratively.

Computer Skills
  • Digital file management and standards.
  • Proficiency in Revit (BIM), SketchUp, AutoCAD, Vray Render, and Adobe Creative Suite (image editing and presentation).
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Project, and Bluebeam/Expert PDF Professional.
  • Knowledge of Matterport (3D scanning) is a plus.
