GRID Alternatives Inland Empire - one of nine GRID affiliates nationwide - is seeking an experienced, community-minded project developer or business development professional to lead and manage origination, development, and implementation of multifamily and commercial energy and solar projects (~20kW-1MW+) in the Inland Empire (~20kW-1MW+). The candidate must be entrepreneurial and tech-savvy, an independent thinker, an excellent problem-solver and people manager, confident in solar financial and technical processes, and have superior communication and interpersonal skills. Above all else, the candidate must be committed to GRID Alternatives' mission of serving low-income communities while creating a successful transition to clean, renewable energy that includes and benefits everyone.

Position Responsibilities:
Originate projects by identifying, developing, and securing both roof and land sites, financing partners and mechanisms, utility interconnection opportunities, off-taker partners such as affordable housing agencies, and philanthropic support that can deepen project impact and viability
Implement projects by leading "project teams" that consist of the staff from other functional areas (construction, workforce development, and outreach departments)
Produce and manage project and departmental level budgets
Develop, manage, and deepen key-stakeholder partnerships (both funding and project partners)
Provide technical assistance and project development consulting services to affordable housing developers, nonprofit organizations, and local and regional governments
Respond to funding and project RFPs and grant opportunities
Maximize GRID's revenue/impact per project by leading and/or collaborating on donations from corporate, governmental, and foundation partners
Manage direct reports who will lead and/or assist in fundraising and project development/management/implementation, as assigned
Work collaboratively with all other GRID Inland Empire and HQ departments; facilitate team meetings; represent the organization in a positive manner to utility partners, potential donors, funders, sponsors, and the general community
Help guide the GRID Inland Empire operations and vision as part of the regional management team
Advance the organization's equity, inclusion, and diversity work and understand that this can only be achieved within a framework of social, economic, and environmental justice

Position Requirements:
Passion for poverty alleviation and dedication to helping realize GRID's vision of a clean renewable energy future that includes everyone
Demonstrated experience in developing and financing multifamily and commercial solar or affordable housing projects with multiple stakeholders and funding streams (e.g., solar carports, ground mounts, rooftop solar, community solar)
Proven ability to manage and deliver multiple complex projects on time and budget
Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Must be able to confidently discuss financing options and solutions with partner organizations
Experience in successfully leading diverse project teams that include cross-departmental contributors
Experience in hiring and managing direct reports to effectively deliver on goals
Track record of developing and building both funding and program/project level partnerships
Solid understanding of PV solar industry and related technologies, markets, and policy and regulatory issues
Detail-oriented self-starter who is internally motivated and also excels in a team environment
Proficient with computers and MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google applications like Gmail and GoogleDocs, and CRM databases like Salesforce. Ability to quickly learn new programs including CAD/SketchUp, HelioScope, Energy Toolbase, PVWatts Calculator, PV Bid
Available for occasional weekend and evening work
Able to travel the greater Inland Empire region. GRID Alternatives provides travel reimbursement and applicant must hold a valid driver's license and possess a reliable vehicle. Occasional travel to other GRID offices may be required

Leadership qualities such as creativity, capacity to motivate others, understanding teams and their needs, eagerness to accept responsibility, and intelligent and action oriented judgement.

Preferred Qualifications:
Existing relationships with corporate and foundation donors, and/or government, utilities, solar industry leaders and experts
Expertise in solar financing for multifamily/commercial projects
Experience designing and cost estimating solar for multifamily/commercial projects

Office Location/travel:

GRID Alternatives Inland Empire office is located in Riverside, CA. This position requires some travel to sites throughout the Inland Empire and occasional out-of-town travel. Availability to work nights and weekends maybe required. GRID Alternatives may provide vehicles for work travel and/or travel reimbursement for personal vehicle use, but applicant must hold a valid driver's license and good driving record.

Compensation:

This is a full-time position, compensation commensurate with experience
