About the Role

The Project Development Manager will be responsible for developing a pipeline of utility-scale wind, solar and storage projects in the WECC market from greenfield thru NTP or divestment. This is a highly collaborative role leveraging support of the internal team and external consultants to obtain land, interconnection, permits and other crucial project milestones.

  • Identify development prospects and advance project development activities, both through individual contributions and by managing a team of internal and external subject matter experts. These activities may include but are not limited to market assessments, initial site reconnaissance, and fatal flaw identification
  • Develop project business case and update leadership on project level risk and status
  • Represent Nova Clean Energy with landowners, state and local officials, regulators, utilities, RTOs, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication throughout the project development process with a high level of accuracy and integrity.
  • Coordinate with internal resources, such as the Legal, GIS, Engineering, Construction, Finance, and Energy Assessment teams, to drive projects forward
  • Conduct development review of project contracts, incl. real estate, tax abatement, and support EPC/BOP, PPA, GIA, and other binding agreements.
  • Manage multiple projects at different phases across your assigned region
  • Priorities and responsibilities will change as the company matures. This position is not limited to the responsibilities outlined above.


About You
You have experience leading utility-scale energy projects through key milestones and a proven ability to execute projects plans. You have good financial acumen and leverage those skills to take an opportunistic approach to identify potential projects. You thrive in a nimble and adaptive business environment.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or related field with relevant work experience
  • 4+ years of experience in project development and project management within the energy sector
  • Knowledge of three or more of the following is required: real estate and land acquisition, discretionary permitting, the interconnection process in one or more RTO, a technical understanding of wind, solar and/or storage projects, RFP assembly and response and PPA negotiations support, and/or wholesale market/RTO market operations knowledge
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a flat organization
  • Willingness to mentor and lead more junior level staff
  • Ability to travel domestically as needed
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and possession of a valid driver's license

The salary range for this role is $120,000-$150,000 with a 20% target bonus. This range is an estimate, and offered salary will be based on several factors including but not limited to location, work experience, certifications, and education.
