What you will be doing:

The Project Structural Engineer will be responsible for applying established engineering principles to plan, design and develop systems, facilities or processes. Directs all aspects of assigned engineering projects, including Grade 4-7 project team members.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project of moderate scope for the respective specialty.
  • Perform work which involves conventional engineering practice, but may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Maintain effective liaison with the client as needed.
  • Initiate and complete the correction of any conditions which may adversely affect the completion of the project on schedule and within budget.
  • Support the project manager with proposal development, work plan development, coordination of multi-discipline projects, monitoring of schedules and budgets, attendance of project client and team meetings to assist with coordination and development of project requirements.
  • Conduct field work.
  • Oversee & supervise assigned departmental personnel on projects and monitor their individual technical performance, providing guidance and direction, as needed.
  • Assist in providing leadership, guidance, and skills development of CADD Technicians, Designers, EIT's and Engineers.
  • Perform independent and check other's engineering calculations.
  • Take necessary actions to ensure the project proceeds on schedule and within budget limitations.
  • Maintain and continue to develop strong technical knowledge in the use, and application of current technologies, design techniques, procedures, regulations, materials, and specifications. Monitor trade/discipline advances and recommend training for department.
  • Utilizing design software develop and prepare scalable plans and diagrams.
  • Process shop drawings, respond to RFI's, edit specifications, create charts and schedules, and develop cost estimates.
  • Perform QA/QC procedures and enforce quality control procedures throughout project development.
  • Assure compliance with corporate and client procedures relevant to project design and implementation.
  • Assist with technical solutions to construction problems.
  • Conduct studies and develop reports for special technical projects.
  • Conduct regular project review sessions with appropriate personnel to monitor the project progress.
  • Perform similar and related work as assigned.


Experience, Technical Skills, and Attributes:
  • Graduation from an ABET college or university with a Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Knowledge and experience using computer aided design and drafting, (AutoCADD & Microstation) software and Microsoft Office.
