WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer III - Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) to lead and manage complex SUE projects with a focus on quality, compliance, and technical excellence. In this role, you will oversee advanced utility investigations, provide leadership to engineers and technicians, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality SUE plans, reports, and recommendations. With minimal supervision, you will play a key role in ensuring successful project execution and mentoring the next generation of engineers.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING: We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer III - Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) to lead and manage complex SUE projects with a focus on quality, compliance, and technical excellence. In this role, you will oversee advanced utility investigations, provide leadership to engineers and technicians, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality SUE plans, reports, and recommendations. With minimal supervision, you will play a key role in ensuring successful project execution and mentoring the next generation of engineers.
Once selected to join our team, you will:
- Lead and manage complex SUE projects, including advanced utility investigations and conflict resolution.
- Oversee utility mapping, design, and compliance with industry standards, codes, and project requirements.
- Develop detailed utility plans and coordinate approvals for permitting and fieldwork.
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and quality reviews for engineers and technicians.
- Interpret sketches, redlines, and field data to produce and edit SUE plans and drawings.
- Prepare and review technical reports, utility maps, as-built records, and project documentation.
- Conduct property and utility research to support design activities.
- Perform site visits to assess field conditions and ensure project success.
- Assist with resource planning, scheduling, and budget management to meet project goals.
- Participate in client meetings, providing technical expertise and project updates.
- Ensure health, safety, and environmental compliance on all project sites.
- Support business development by assisting with proposals and client presentations.
- Conduct training sessions and workshops on SUE methodologies and best practices.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to senior management.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE:
- Expert proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or other design software related to SUE projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of subsurface utility engineering principles, utility conflict analysis, and design standards.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office and Bluebeam.
- In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards for SUE projects.
SKILLS:
- Mastery of SUE processes, including utility investigations and conflict resolution.
- Extensive knowledge of civil infrastructure, including water, wastewater, and storm infrastructure and design.
- Exceptional project management and organizational skills.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills.
- Advanced problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Strong leadership and ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proven capability to manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision.
- Ability to mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians.
EXPERIENCE:
- At least 8 years of experience in civil engineering design or subsurface utility engineering design
- At least 6 years of prior CAD experience, with a focus on SUE deliverables
- At least 4 years of experience as a P.E.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
LICENSES/CERTIFICATION:
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the state of Texas
