Description:
RK&K has an opportunity for a Structural/Bridge Engineer in our Richmond and Virginia Beach offices. The successful candidate will prepare designs of bridges and other transportation related structures for a variety of project types and clients, from preliminary concepts to final construction plans.

Essential Function
- Prepare and check structural calculations and plans
- Calculate and check quantities for bridge construction projects
- Lead bridge inspection assignments in the field
- Develop, write, review, and submit inspection reports
- Perform bridge load ratings
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
- NHI Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course with Refresher Training within the last 5 years
- Registration as an Engineering in Training (EIT) (passed the FE exam) is required.
- Experience in learn design and CADD computer software such as; STADD Pro, VBent, MicroStation, various other structural programs and various bridge condition inspection reporting software.
- Effective oral and written communications skills
- Field work is required
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer's license in the Commonwealth of Virginia or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment
Other Requirements
- Valid driver's license and favorable driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Be able to climb ladders and work at heights
- Be able to communicate effectively - verbal and written
- Ability to travel throughout Virginia with occasional travel to Maryland and North Carolina
- Occasional consecutive overnight stays
- Work in an outside environment with exposure to snakes, spiders, insects, and poisonous plants
