WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS POSITION:

As a Project Engineer - Syncrude, you will play a pivotal role in crafting world-class engineering projects. You will provide leadership and direction, ensuring that our initiatives are both innovative and flawlessly completed. Reporting to the site Project Manager. Duties typically include but not limited to:
  • APEGA stamp EHT Drawing EHT packages and written scope of work, in accordance with site specifications, Chemelex standards, and external agencies such as CSA, CEC, etc. Maintain good standing with Chemelex Permit Holder and APEGA at all times.
  • Supervise and lead onsite and offsite Field Engineers/Designers and Technologists in work, site priorities, safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Primary main Site Engineering point of contact for the team. Manage all client requests and RFIs; quantify the request and ensure the task is accurately completed or accepted by another Project Engineer for execution.


Our site based position has a few schedules for consideration:
  • 7 days on and 7 days off rotation (12 hour shift) commuter scheduler
  • 4 days 3 days off (10 hour shift) Fort McMurray resident
  • 5 days on 2 days off (8 hour shift) Fort McMurray resident


YOU HAVE:

  • Academic background in Engineering, Science, Safety, or Environmental fields.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science as outlined by APEGA, or Technologist with the required years of experience to stamp EHT drawings and electrical drawings 600V or less.
  • 7+ years of Oilsands Industrial experience.
  • 4+ years of EHT design experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage with various client types (Managers, Operations, Engineers and Technologists, Trades and Trade Supervision.
  • Soft skills to develop and maintain strong client relationships. Some business development and sales support activities will be required.
  • Physical and environmental abilities: Bend, squat down, and reach above your head. Climb stairs and ladders. Lift and carry up to 20 pounds. Conduct field inspections at heights.
