Position Summary
The individual in this position will have technical responsibility for optimization of existing production equipment as well as the specification through commissioning of new production equipment. Technical responsibilities will include CAD design of machine modifications and layouts, hands on trouble shooting and commissioning, understanding of control logic and understanding of machine safety devices and their proper application. Non-technical responsibilities will include project management and leadership of small to mid-sized projects.

What You'll do as a Project Engineer
- Identification of root causes of production line bottle necks, maintenance, and safety issues. Where applicable, design and implement machine modifications which address identified issues.
- Develop technical and performance specifications for new equipment and identify suppliers capable of meeting specifications.
- Selection and management of machine suppliers through debug and successful commissioning of machinery.
- Provides hands on technical expertise for trouble shooting of production equipment. Requires understanding of power transmission systems, tooling, control logic, etc.
- Responsible for development of lean culture and institution of lean principles.
- Initiates and manages continuous improvement projects utilizing Six Sigma and Lean methodologies.
- Actively participates in Kaizen events and all other aspects of the Lean Daily Management System.
- Instructs and trains employees on process and procedural changes per established guidelines.
- Maintains current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) at all times
- Effectively applying analytical and statistical tools with regard to risk management.
- Design of machine components and tooling.
- Design or specification of equipment control logic.
- Design and implementation of machine safeguarding.
The Experience, Skills, and Abilities Needed
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering, life sciences, or technical related field
- Minimum 5 years of recent hands-on experience in engineering or maintenance of automated production machinery
- Must have demonstrated knowledge and analytical skills in mechanical design, controls, and safety aspects of automated production machinery
Preferred:
- Proven project management skills, with successful completion of at least two end-to-end projects
Other:
- Proficient in communications skills necessary to be an effective contributor/leader in a team environment
- Ability to utilize common statistical programs to generate data to support product transfer, risk analysis, and validation activities
- Proficient in frequently used office software (Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Email, etc.)
- Experienced in the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles
- Knowledge of validation and change control requirements
- Proficient in use of CAD software
- Demonstrated ability to organize and manage own work
