Project Manager, Development and Construction - Healthcare

Overview:
CommuniCare is seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Manager to lead and oversee healthcare construction projects across multiple states. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in development, construction, and project management within the healthcare sector, ensuring that projects are completed efficiently, on time, and within budget. This role will require strategic planning, cross-functional collaboration, and compliance with regulatory requirements, with a strong focus on innovation in facility development.

Objectives of the Role:
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage all phases of healthcare construction projects, from initiation to closeout.
  • Drive innovation in Certificate of Need expansion, de-densification of skilled nursing home beds, and conditional reuse initiatives.
  • Define project objectives, scope, and deliverables in alignment with stakeholders' expectations and strategic goals.
  • Develop and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to ensure cost efficiency and timely completion.
  • Serve as a liaison with operators, ownership, land use attorneys, architects, engineers, contractors, and subcontractors to oversee project execution.
  • Engage with political, governmental, regulatory, state, county, and community leaders to navigate approvals and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee procurement processes, including bid evaluations, contract negotiations, and vendor selection.
  • Monitor project budgets and cost controls, ensuring adherence to financial constraints and managing change orders as necessary.
  • Conduct site visits to assess progress, identify risks, and ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain open and transparent communication with project teams and stakeholders to provide regular updates and address concerns.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocations, and procurement strategies.
  • Oversee construction activities, ensuring projects stay on schedule and within specifications.
  • Select and manage contractors and subcontractors, ensuring high-quality execution at cost-effective rates.
  • Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and project status.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, healthcare regulations, and safety standards.
  • Manage all project documentation, including contracts, permits, drawings, and change orders.
  • Lead and facilitate regular project meetings to ensure clear, consistent communication and address any project challenges.
  • Provide timely project status reports, including milestone achievements, budget updates, and risk assessments.
  • Conduct project evaluations to identify opportunities for process improvements and corrective actions.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance team environment, providing leadership and guidance throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in business, healthcare administration, construction management, or a related field.
  • In-depth knowledge of healthcare regulations, construction methodologies, building codes, and safety regulations.
  • Proven project management skills, including strong planning, organizing, and prioritization abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and construction schematics.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills to manage project teams and liaise with multiple stakeholders.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
  • Professional certification in Project Management (PMP) or Construction Management.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and pivot mid-project as needed.
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities, managing multiple projects and tight timelines simultaneously.
  • Experience in risk management and budget control for construction projects.
  • Expertise in renovation, expansion, and ground-up construction for healthcare facilities.
  • Familiarity with local construction regulations, permits, and approval processes.
  • Experience in contract negotiations, claims management, and vendor relations.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience in budgeting and cost control for large-scale projects.
