Where would you step in?
As an Energy Siting Specialist focused on siting and permitting energy facilities, you will serve as an integral part of project teams delivering creative solutions to our clients throughout the Northeast. You can sit in any of our Massachusetts offices. We offer a hybrid work environment and flexible Fridays in the summer.

Our Environment Team and Projects
Our Environment group is over 100 strong throughout our Northeast offices. The work we do covers site assessment, remediation, wetland science, regulatory compliance, environmental and land use permitting, and other ways we can support client work with state and local governments, utilities, private clients, industry, colleges, and hospitals.

What will you be doing?
Support siting, environmental and land use permitting and licensing efforts for electric infrastructure and other public infrastructure projects.
Review and interpret local, state, and federal energy, land use, and environmental regulations. Evaluate the impact of proposed legislation and regulations on project development.
Prepare formal applications, petitions, and filings for new or upgraded electric transmission, storage, or generation facilities.
Collaborate with internal and external subject matter experts, including planners, engineers, scientists and lawyers.
Assist key witnesses in preparing testimony and testify before federal, state, and local agencies concerning electric transmission and substation siting.
Participate in and facilitate meetings representing project interests with clients, regulatory agencies, stakeholder and the public.
Communicate complex environmental and project information to diverse audiences.
Assist with the development of feasibility studies, project planning, and identification of permitting risks and challenges.
Assess and analyze the environmental and land use impact of proposed projects and assist in development of mitigation strategies.
Create design graphics, write technical reports, and support production of project documentation.
Provide subject matter input on siting, environmental and land use issues for permitting and planning efforts.
Support compliance assurance process throughout project development and construction.

What do you need?
Bachelor's degree in Planning, Environmental Studies, Public Policy, Natural Sciences, or a related field.
Significant years of experience in the utility industry or a related field.
Familiarity with local, state, and federal energy, environmental, and land use regulations.
Experience with siting and permitting of electric infrastructure projects (e.g., transmission, storage, or generation).
Ability to work closely with engineers and environmental scientists on environmental impact analysis.
Strong decision-making and analytical skills with the ability to interpret facts and make sound recommendations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.

Preferred Requirements:
Regulatory or legal experience related to energy and environmental permitting.
Advanced degree or additional certifications in relevant fields (e.g., AICP, CEP, JD, or MPA).
Experience engaging with regulatory agencies and participating in public hearings.
Familiarity with project management tools, GIS software, or permitting platforms.
