This role involves preparing, submitting, and delivering construction proposals, tenders, and estimates while assisting in the development and administration of project contracts, budgets, quality control, and job costing.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Prepare, submit, and deliver construction proposals, tenders, and estimates
- Assist in the development and administration of project contracts, budgets, quality control, and job costing
- Assist in the daily management of construction projects
- Review and interpret proposed designs, engineering drawings, and specifications for functionality and appropriateness
- Initiate questions to the engineer
- Assist in the issuance of purchase orders, contracts, schedules, change orders, extra work, etc.
- Represent the company in business dealings with customers, consultants, engineers, stakeholders, sub-contractors, suppliers, and other private or public agencies
- Accurately review Daily Field Reports (DFR) or diaries showing all hours for the crew under the appropriate cost code, as well as all materials delivered to the site and daily productions
- Accurately review purchase orders with job numbers and cost codes
- Accurately review crew's timecards, ensure delivery slips are accurate and code with job numbers and cost codes
- Ensure the well-being of the project team throughout the project
- Engage with the team to gather suggestions for project execution
- Update information on project management development, tools, regulations, market demand, and potential clients
- Arrange project completion based on the specifications of the project owner
- Assemble a proficient team to achieve project goals in changing, fixed, and responsive circumstances using leadership and management expertise
- Plan, commence, execute, supervise, and complete assigned projects
- Suggest strategies for achieving project goals to the owner
What You'll Need to Be Successful:
- Thorough understanding of the company safety manual and OHSA manual
- Valid driver's license and ability to safely operate company vehicles
- Knowledge of construction/civil engineering design and planning principles/procedures
- Ability to develop and present project estimates
- Ability to read plans, schematics, shop drawings, specifications, and technical manuals
- Technical knowledge of civil engineering project materials and methods
- Ability to negotiate and manage purchasing arrangements
- Strong organizational and prioritizing skills
- Knowledge of all types of contracts, including Unit Price, Fixed Price, and Cost Plus
- Familiarity with operating practices of construction, engineering, architectural, and building firms
- Effective communication skills - both verbal and written
- Ability to perform site inspections for estimating, managing, and QA/QC purposes
- Proficiency in using computers - MS Office and estimating software/job costing systems
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Thorough knowledge of pipe types and fittings
- Clear and effective communication with crew and management
- Self-starter with a passion for the environmental industry
- Completion of P.Eng, AScT, C.Tech, or GSC certification
- Occupational First Aid - Level 1 or equivalent
- Knowledge of polymers and their application, sludge dewatering
