Compensation:

Project Manager (TA) $73,878-$96,395

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for performing Civil/Structural inspections and giving technical and administrative direction to a small team of structural maintainers performing inspections of structural conditions of various NYCT Structure types (including Viaducts, Elevated Trackways, Subway Tunnels, Under-River Tubes, and Stations). Duties include analyzing data and creating reports; performing cost estimates/project profiles and scopes of work; preparing structural designs, sketches, and repair plans; providing field support to in-house maintenance forces and vendor contracts; attending planning, design, and field meetings in order to represent the Engineering Division for capital programs; reviewing Master Plans; scopes of work design, drawings, and specifications; carrying out construction inspections and creation of punch lists for NYCT Capital Projects performing final inspections of completed work and generating punch lists; Duties will also include tracking and managing EAM structural inspections and nonconformity database; providing clear and concise structural evaluation reports to management; responding to trouble calls and emergencies relating to structural conditions 24/7 on a rotation basis.

Qualification Requirements

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration, and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating, or expediting, for engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects; or

2. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience as described in "1" above; or

3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus any combination of the experience and/or college education as described in "1" above to make up the equivalent of five years of education and experience. One year of credit will be given for each 30 semester credits of college education leading to a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, engineering technology, architecture, landscape architecture, architectural technology, construction, construction management, construction technology, sustainable design, urban planning, urban studies, city planning, transportation planning, business administration, or public administration. Experience which is primarily of a design nature is not acceptable towards meeting the minimum requirements.

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficient with the latest version of MicroStation.
  • Knowledge of MS Office suite, internet and mobile applications, and databases.
  • Knowledge of structural inspection of concrete and steel.
  • Ability to read and write technical drawings and correspondence.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction, design, and code issues.
  • Experience in designing and detailing structures.
