The Role

The project manager will oversee OWL Services operations of various fuel station accounts in SE Michigan. The role will also be responsible for sales and project estimating. Role must be able to work within internal cross-functional teams to properly manage the accounts and projects. The successful applicant must have the ability to work with various account contacts to successfully support and manage the projects and accounts. Applicant must understand that petroleum industry is a 24/7 business and in certain circumstances customer may need to contact Project Manager after business hours.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities below are a high-level representation of the position, but are not all encompassing.
  • Project Proposals
  • Organize Customer meetings for scoping of projects
  • Ability to make sale without additional sales support
  • Ability to submit a proposal and manage any contract modifications
  • Assure that proposal documents are completed accurately
  • Calculate profit and overhead margins to proposals
  • Submit all specifications for permits to be obtained through municipalities
  • Manage company-owned equipment and initiate bid process for use of special equipment as needed.
  • Manage submitted proposals and success ratios
  • Oversee and submit all submittals per project requirements
  • Solicit, negotiate and close subcontractor bids for various project segments
  • Prepare requirements schedule both of the company and any applicable subcontractors
  • Assure that training is scheduled to include: safety, equipment, materials, and security
  • Initiate and requisition required materials and equipment with assigned Specialty Buyer per project timetable.
  • Project Construction/ Equipment Delivery
  • Identify Human Resources requirements to meet Project schedule requirements
  • Conduct/Participate in safety training related to customer projects
  • Conduct/Participate in meetings with subcontractors when on site and perform safety checks
  • Attend all customer design, progress, schedule and commissioning meetings.
  • Conduct or oversee site inspections to confirm quality of work, and immediately correct any deficiencies
  • Coordinate with the other Trades on site with respect to upcoming work phases and activities
  • Oversee incoming project invoices and obtain PO numbers when ordering supplies. Submit for payment
  • Record the phases and activities of work completed for invoice per contract requirements
  • Provide for signed change orders for customers for additional work
  • Initiate/Respond to Contract Modification Requests and document same.
  • Maintain and update the Project Schedule, identifying critical milestone events, task progress and take the necessary actions to correct or facilitate any delayed or late activities.
  • Maintain ongoing contact with on Site Representatives and responsively react to any requests, modifications or requirements
  • Supervise all Milestone Testing to include but not limited to; tank and line testing, control system testing, leak detection system testing and full-system testing as required.
  • Project Completion Activities
  • Review the Commissioning requirements to identify inaccuracies. Coordinate manpower, equipment, material and subcontractors as needed.
  • Manage final inspection and identify any outstanding issues with DEQ/LARA inspectors as well as customer
  • Close the Project addressing all related activities and requirements
  • Collect payment from customer
  • Additional duties and/ or responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Self-starter
  • Strong communications, negotiation, customer service, oral and written skills
  • Project management, sales experience required; estimating skills preferred
  • 2+ years of petroleum industry experience preferred
  • 2+ years of petroleum construction experience preferred
  • Other related experience will be considered
  • Good driving record
  • Proficient with computer and various software applications
