You direct and manage Construction Testing and Inspection projects, participating in short- and long-range planning. In this role, you will independently make decisions on work methods and procedures within an overall program. You will act as a technical expert for the team, and work towards developing practical and effective solutions for clients. You will also have the opportunity to be a business leader and work towards further developing the Construction Testing and Inspection service group locally. Improving technical standards, collaborating with other industry experts, and mentoring and growing the talent pool at Cambium are also critical components of the role.
JOB DUTIES
Job Requirements
Civil or Geotechnical, Technician or Technologist Diploma, or similar. Bachelor of Science or Engineering Degree (Minimum requirement is a college diploma and related experience)
5+ years relevant experience in Materials Engineering, Construction, or other related fields.
Attention to detail in all undertakings is essential
Superior organizational and communications skills are essential
Desire to succeed in a dynamic, progressive organization
Familiarity with federal and provincial environmental legislation and regulations
A high level of integrity and pride in quality work is imperative.
Proven technical writing skills.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and organizational skills.
Valid Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle.

JOB DUTIES
- Responsibilities include preparation of proposals, project planning, scheduling, allocation of personnel and resources, budgeting, overall supervision of project personnel, reporting, and regular communication with clients.
- Responsible for invoicing clients on a monthly basis unless an alternative payment schedule is specifically requested by the client and agreed upon by the group leader and/or department manager.
- Responsible for retention of existing clients and acquisition of new clients.
- Responsible for following Cambium's health and safety policies and procedures and applicable government legislations.
- Accountable for revenue, costs and profitability of projects under his/her management.
- As required, the project manager will participate in projects in a technical capacity, including:
- Performing various types of construction materials testing,
- Receiving and logging in of samples, calibration and overseeing maintenance of equipment,
- Independent field reviews of various stages of civil construction, and
- Report writing and technical interpretation of specifications and drawings.
- The project manager will provide training, guidance, and mentorship to junior Cambium personnel in accordance with his/her knowledge base.
- Create technical reviews and provide recommendations regarding designs and reports prepared by consulting engineers.
- Collaborate with other Cambium service lines on multi-service projects
- Travel, shiftwork and overtime may be required.
