Project Manager

TheAutomation Project Manager in this role will focus on Process Control Automation.This role will provide technical automation leadership and collaborate withbranch resources to execute projects in the Chemical and Pharmaceuticalindustries. Ability to read, understand and interpret complex chemical andpharmaceutical industry specifications and then outline the tasks requiredto comply with them is required. Industry standards not yet known will need tobe researched by the project manager for compliance. The project manager will beempowered to explore new areas that our team's process control skill set can beapplied to.
Projectmanagers at Pieper Automation often manage a mix of customer accounts withrepeat work as well as customers with design-build work. The goal of theProject Manager is to develop customer relationships by providing best in classservice through servant leadership. The mix of projects will be assigned basedon the project manager's strengths, experience and development goals. TheProject Manager will manage every phase of a solution, from opportunitydiscovery, to estimating, fulfillment, closeout, and follow-up. The projectmanager position at Pieper Automation is in an influencer role or a leaderwithout authority. The organization provides engineering, skilled tradesworkers, and business development resources to support the project manager.

Responsibilities

Project Management:

• Help identify new salesopportunities.
• Provide estimates for new opportunities.
• Maintain and improve customer satisfaction.
  Prepareand/or review design for compliance with engineering principals, applicablestandards, customer contract requirements, and related specifications.
• Lead and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, and resources whilemonitoring the process from concept through implementation.
• Prepares project progress and completion reports.
• Ensure profitability goals are met on a monthly and annual basis.

Technical Problem Solving

• Resolve engineering design and test problems.
• Directs integration of technical activities and products.
• Evaluates and approves design changes, specifications, and drawing releases.

Resource Management

• Manage, plan, schedule, communicate, facilitate, and report project relatedtasks.
• Break down work packages into manageable tasks. Assign and/or direct work ofinternal resources and sub-contractors (internal and external).
• Lead teams, mentor talent, contribute to operational success.

Customer Management and Sales

• Work closely with sales and service resources in a consultative and/or trainingenvironment.
• Evaluate objectives, anticipate obstacles, measure progress, and takeappropriate corrective action to achieve objectives.
• Monitor deliverables for completeness, quality of workmanship, and how wellthey meet customer expectations.
• Monitor production of project deliverables and provide assistance insolving production issues that may occur. (This may include control panels,work cells, instrumentation, documentation, customer training)

Requirements

• Minimum five years related experience and/or training in industrial automation, and Bachelor's degree from a four year college or university; or equivalent combination of experience and education.
• Proven experience leading and managing complex projects
• Prior experience mentoring/coaching a team is preferred
• Previous experience managing a P&L is preferred
• Prior experience in business development strongly preferred
