Description
The City of Laguna Beach is looking for a Project Manager to lead vital capital improvement projects, utility undergrounding, and wastewater projects within the Public Works and Utilities Department. In this role, you will manage a broad spectrum of projects, from roadways to public parks, ensuring each one positively impacts our city's growth. This position calls for someone who excels at overseeing complex, multi-disciplinary projects with minimal supervision and has a strong background in engineering, construction inspection, and interacting with the public.

Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to effectively and successfully perform the duties of the position is considered qualifying. A typical combination is as follows:
Education: Educational achievement equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university, supplemented by courses in drafting, advanced mathematics, and civil engineering.
Experience: Considerable experience in progressively responsible civil engineering work which includes project management, plan checking, construction inspection or engineering design is required.
License/Certificate Requirements: Due to the performance of some field duties, which may require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid California Driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.

Application/Selection Process: Applications will be accepted on a continuous basis with a first review on March 27, 2025. Applications will be screened carefully and selected applicants will be invited to participate in the Structured Panel Interview. The appointing hiring authority will further review the job-related qualifications of those deemed eligible for hire before making selection decisions. The selection process may be modified based on the needs of the City.
Pre-Placement Process: The selected candidate must successfully pass a fingerprint check with the State Department of Justice, a pre-placement physical and drug test, educational and employment verification, and reference check(s).
