The Project Manager is essential in planning and executing various Information Technology (IT) projects, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives. This role involves close collaboration with government representatives and utilizing established Project Management principles based on the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) best practices.
Responsibilities
- Key responsibilities include creating and maintaining the Plan of Action and Milestones (POAM) for each assigned project, which details goals, objectives, timelines, resources, and constraints. The Project Manager presents these plans to government leaders, adapting them based on feedback to meet evolving needs. Additionally, they are responsible for generating and updating a Project Risk Plan, tracking project progress, and ensuring compliance with security and other project requirements.
- The role demands proactive management of project schedules, risk assessment, and the documentation process throughout the project lifecycle. When necessary, the Project Manager prepares decision briefs for government leaders, outlining emergent issues and potential Courses of Action (COAs), facilitating informed decision-making and project adjustments.
- This position also requires the Project Manager to provide a Monthly Status Report (MSR) to the Contracting Officer's Representative (COR)-appointed Technical Assistant (TA), detailing the status of all projects, identifying emergent issues, and suggesting actionable solutions to ensure project success and alignment with strategic goals.
Qualifications
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- IAW DoD 8570.01-M, must meet IAM II minimum qualifications.
- Must possess ONE of the following 8570 IAM-II certifications:
- CAP (Certified Authorization Professional)
- CASP+ CE
- CISM (Certified Information Security Manager)
- CISSP (or Associate)
- GSLC (GIAC Security Leadership Certification)
- CCISO (Certified Chief Information Security Officer)
- HCISPP (Healthcare Information Security and Privacy Practitioner)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
- Minimum High School Diploma/GED.
- Minimum two (2) years of work experience in project management within the DoD.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills, including high-level presentations/briefings.
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools (Project, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook). Microsoft Project will be the main tool for tracking projects. Microsoft SharePoint is recommended for keeping all project related documents to share with team members and leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in a Communications Directorate or Division at the Combatant Command or Theater Service Component Command level.
- Experience as a military staff officer.
