Overview
Empire Office is currently seeking a Project Manager/Account Manager to join our growing team in NYC. This hybrid role combines elements of account management and project management, requiring a strong customer-focused approach and the ability to oversee projects from inception to completion. The successful candidate will manage client expectations, provide quality-based products and knowledge-based solutions, and ensure the delivery and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FFE). This role is integral to increasing market share and profitability while maintaining a strong focus on client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities

Account Management Responsibilities:
  • Update clients on new product offerings and market trends.
  • Provide prompt and courteous responses to client inquiries, needs, and requests.
  • Share Empire's story and promote the company's resources, capabilities, and expertise.
  • Exercise value engineering and strategic social relationship-building to enhance client engagement.
  • Act as the liaison throughout the sales process by facilitating and managing all steps.
  • Mentor junior team members as needed.
  • Forecast and execute strategic account plans to drive growth.
  • Negotiate with vendors for additional discounting to improve profitability.

Project Management Responsibilities:
  • Review all FFE items with clients and architects, including film, signage, furniture, and accessories.
  • Attend project kickoff and construction meetings, in person or remotely.
  • Develop and oversee delivery and installation schedules for all FFE vendors.
  • Coordinate field verifications, critical dimension checks, and deliveries with contractors, trades workers, and building management.
  • Troubleshoot onsite issues and escalate additional work orders as necessary.
  • Ensure site readiness, maintain cleanliness, and manage excess products appropriately.
  • Prepare punch lists, verify the resolution of issues, and coordinate final walkthroughs with clients.
  • Provide training to clients on properly using furniture and fixtures as needed.

Collaboration and Communication:
  • Work closely with Sales/Account Coordinators and Operations to meet client needs.
  • Communicate effectively with all stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Monitor and manage project reports, including unbilled and aging accounts.
  • Maintain internal systems for tracking project progress and managing documentation.


Qualifications

Skills & Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent; technical training or a two-year degree is acceptable for project management roles.
  • 5+ years of experience in the furniture industry, dealership experience preferred.
  • Salary range: $75,000 - $90,000, based on experience.
  • Proficiency in reading and understanding blueprints, CAD, construction drawings, and furniture specification plans.
  • CET or CAD experience is required.
  • Knowledge of Steelcase furniture and familiarity with the Hedberg system for generating quotes.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to motivate team members.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to travel as needed to support onsite projects or client needs.
