This challenging position is structured to offer the successful candidate ongoing learning and career advancement. The Project Engineer is a professional with 5-10 years of experience. This candidate will work in the Lakewood, NJ office and its surrounding areas. Team members manage multiple engineering projects affecting local infrastructure and land use in a variety of work environments in support of our local clients. We work in urban, suburban and rural locations and collaborate with each client to understand their goal and vision. This individual will review, design and/or manage a variety of infrastructure projects (owned by municipalities and local school districts) and will report directly to the Office Manager. Such projects shall include roads, underground utilities, public buildings, recreational facilities, and land use applications submitted by private developers.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
Prepare cost estimates for a variety of commercial and residential developments for the purpose of bonding.
Review grading plans for individual homes.
Inspect various improvements including but not limited to roads, underground utilities, curbing, sidewalk and parking facilities.
Develop or implement engineering solutions to assist clients with improving and maintaining their infrastructure.
Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, aerial photography, or other topographical or geologic data.
Design transportation, utility, facility, or hydraulic systems or structures (as appropriate) using computer assisted design or drawing tools.
Conduct preconstruction meetings for private development projects.
Support of the field activities of our construction inspection staff, including providing timely data, shop drawing review, and client coordination.
Provide technical advice to clients regarding design, construction, or capital program modifications.
Attending regularly scheduled public meetings (conducted by Municipal clients) in the capacity of Municipal Engineer, or Land Use Board Engineer.
Prepare and present public reports on topics such as bid proposals, project status reports and developmental review projects.
Estimate quantities and cost of materials, equipment, or labor to determine project feasibility.
Responsible for scope, schedule and budget adherence to assigned tasks.
Operate under limited supervision.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in the field and may be exposed to outside weather conditions. Work requires frequent and prolonged computer use. May occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Occasional travel will be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:
- Municipal Engineering experience preferred but not required.
- Proven ability to multitask, appropriately prioritize workflow and complete tasks on schedule and within budget
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions to present to co-workers and clients.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to make public presentations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of computer aided design software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Teams
- Ability to work in groups as well as individually
- Excellent time management skills
- CADD Experience a Plus
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering (any discipline) from an accredited four-year college or university
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED
- Valid driver's license
- PE License Required
