The Project Manager, SystemsRail Transportation reports to the Manager, Research & Technology. This position provides project management for capital projects relating to rail communications and signals systems for the PCJPB (Caltrain).
Caltrain systems include communications systems such as the voice and data communications systems, fiber, microwave and WIFI systems, Caltrain Signal systems include grade crossings and train dispatch system.

The Project Manager, SystemsRail Transportation reports to the Manager, Research & Technology. This position provides project management for capital projects relating to rail communications and signals systems for the PCJPB (Caltrain).

Essential Functions & Duties
- Manage the scope, schedule, and budget for Caltrain System's projects.
- Support project lifecycle phases (planning, design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and closeout.
- Act as a liaison with assigned project engineers and consultants to ensure compliance with standards.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to address project-specific objectives and deliverables.
- Provide day-to-day oversight and directives for consultants, engineers, and construction teams.
Examples of Essential Duties:
- Manage the projects with all aspects of project delivery, including developing the scope, prepare cost estimates, schedule, and budget management.
- Prepare reports and presentations for management, stakeholders, and governing boards.
- Collaborate with project engineers and consultants to ensure compliance with Caltrain's technical standards.
- Resolve project issues, including contract negotiations and coordination with external partners.
- Monitor project progress and prepare updates for Management to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Negotiate and resolve project issues.
- Track project progress against established schedules and budgets, identifying and reporting potential delays or cost overruns.
- Perform all job duties and responsibilities in a safe manner to protect one's self, fellow employees, and the public from injury or harm. Promote safety awareness and follow safety procedures in an effort to reduce or eliminate accidents.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:
- Bachelor's degree in Transportation Planning, Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
- Four (4) years full-time experience in project management of technology or systems projects such as Information Technology, Control, Mechanical, Electrical, or Communication systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in public transportation or transit project management.
- Possess strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Experience working in or with a public agency.

- A valid California Drivers' license is required and a safe driving record or the ability to obtain one in six months.
- This position requires your ability to be onsite.
