Position Summary

The Sales Engineer or titled Projects Solutions Manager (PSM) - Market (Deli, Cheese, Bacon, etc.) is responsible for technical sales engineering support for the designated market and as assigned according to Strategic Account Management (SAM) or project team. The PSM is responsible for all scope creation activity associated with the market/SAM team for which they serve. Responsibility begins from opportunity creation through completion of order and hand-off to project execution team. The PSM is responsible for organizing activities, teams, and resulting documentation (quote, pricing, testing documents, etc.) required to construct complete and concise project scope of work / sales quotations, ready for execution.

Project Management Team Overall Responsibility

In the pre-sale phase, the PSM works in conjunction with Market Sement Leader, Manufacturing Partners, Sales, Engineering, Service, Aftermarket and all other internal departments to create project scope plan and validate project scope of work. In this phase, the PSM is also the secondary liaison (first is sales account manager) between customer and Weber internal departments from opportunity creation to completion of order and hand-off to project execution team.

Upon order the PSM and Project Manager are primarily responsible for project hand-off from pre-sale to post-sale phase.

In the post-sale phase, the project manager works with the Market Segment Leader, Project Solutions Manger, Manufacturing Partners, Sales, Engineering, Service and all other Internal Departments to organize, execute, direct and lead project activities. In this phase, the project manager is the primary liaison between customer and Weber Internal departments from project initiation to closure and hand-off to continued support.

PSM Duties and Responsibilities
  • Initiate and maintain liaison with Customers, Sales Department, manufacturing partners, and all internal departments to facilitate scope creation activities.
  • Represent Weber, Inc. in customer project related meetings.
  • Duties as assigned.


Project Solution Management Duties and Responsibilities - Pre-Sale
  • Oversee the quality and accuracy of the pricing, contract compliance, performance metrics, equipment specification, execution strategy, risk assessment and overall scope of work entered for standard configure and build-to-order quotations.
  • Provide technical sales support and consulting, including equipment selection and configuration, equipment capability, equipment layout/drawings, project feasibility/execution, performance feasibility, testing execution and criteria, risk analysis, contract review.
  • Consult with product experts, manufacturing partners and internal teams as needed to ensure a complete scope of work.
  • Provide on-site sales support as needed to facilitate opportunity development and accurate scope creation.
  • Attend Customer attended activities and demonstrations to capture information critical and required to include in scope of work
  • Discuss quotation scope of work documentation and ensure that all the requirements are captured, communicated and agreed on with customers.
  • Assist in maintaining the opportunity record with all required documentation and system entry requirements to aid in inter-departmental communication, hand-off and business continuity.
  • Responsible for contribution to stock ordering/reordering tasks as required to maintain inventory levels at acceptable level to fulfill opportunity needs.


Project Solution Management Duties and Responsibilities - Post-Sale
  • Coordinate hand-off meeting with Project Management (execution) team to assist Initiate the start of capital equipment projects.
  • Provide back-up resource as needed for Project Management (execution).

  • Working knowledge of capital equipment projects
    • knowledge of Raw/RTE primary/secondary packaging systems/applications is preferred.
  • German as a second language preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience with computers including MS Office, AutoCAD (2D modeling) and project management platform/strategies is required.
  • Experience with Salesforce, SAP, and SolidWorks (3D modeling) is preferred.


Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering AND:
  • Minimum 5 years of proven work experience in a related field preferably capital equipment sales.
  • Experience in team leadership or supervisory role.
  • PMP certification preferred.


Other Requirements
  • Current valid U.S. driver's license.
  • Valid U.S. passport or have the ability to obtain one.
  • Must have the ability to frequently travel within North America and Germany occasionally.
