Overview:
Pembina's Transmission Business Unit (TBU) part of the Pipelines Division is actively hiring two full time Project Engineers. Reporting to the Supervisor, Project Engineering, one Project Engineer will have a Piping/Mechanical focus and one Project Engineer will have an Electrical/Control/Automation focus. The Engineers will act as Project Engineer and or Project Manager for pipeline facility projects related the TBU assets. These will include the coordination and supervision of 3rd party engineering firms, fabricators, material suppliers, construction contractors, and coordination of the project execution process and stakeholders within Pembina's organization
The Project Engineering team within TBU strives to create value for Pembina and their customers through the full project development cycle to produce facilities that are cost effective and efficiently executed. The team undertakes project delivery from development through design, construction and start up for projects that are up to $5MM in value which includes exempt, Tier 0 and Tier 1 project categories within the Pembina Project Delivery & Governance Lifecycle (PDGL) process.
Pembina's Transmission Pipeline Business Unit (TBU) assets have developed through the strategic acquisition of key natural gas, ethane and condensate transportation infrastructure assets, positioned in some of the most prolific gas producing regions in western Canada and the United States. Pembina's Transmission Pipelines provide customers with access to premium markets primarily on a fee-for-service basis under long-term contracts through long-haul pipelines.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Support Pembina's safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the "Life Saving Rules". To read more about our Life Saving Rules, visit pembina.com/safety;
- Define scope, schedule and budget for pipeline facility projects;
- Coordinate and manage internal engineering SMEs, outside engineering consultants, specialty consultants, and contractors for the execution of front end and detailed design, procurement of materials and equipment, construction, commissioning and turnover of facilities;
- Collaborate with the Safety team to ensure projects are designed and executed with safety as the number one priority;
- Work with the Project Team to create documentation to support, and provide technical input into, Project Management Deliverables required for management reviews and gate reviews in the PDGL process;
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to create and submit applicable regulatory, land, aboriginal and environmental applications related to the construction of facilities;
- Collaborate with the Project Team, Field Operations, and others within the organization to enhance the continuity of effort and execution effectiveness (e.g. planning and scheduling) while ensuring safe, efficient and cost-effective delivery of assigned pipeline facility projects;
- Interface with Technical Services, Integrity, Quality, and Operations to ensure that projects satisfy the technical, regulatory, operational, commercial, maintenance, and quality requirements as defined in the applicable specifications, standards, and practices;
- Participate in consultation with external stakeholders;
- Support the project during construction through timely review and acceptance of contractor plans, and timely responses to RFIs and design changes;
- Review lessons learned from past projects and incorporate recommendations into future designs;
- Lead initiatives to improve specifications, standards, and practices within the TBU Operations Engineering team;
- Ensure projects are fully closed out;
- Make responsible decisions not usually subject to technical review, except for instances involving large financial commitments; and
- Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications:
- Experience in leading a diverse team of professionals in delivering pipeline facility projects;
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree;
- 10 + years of relevant engineering / project engineering / project management experience;
- Effective project leader with the ability to organize, influence, problem solve, present, earn respect and communicate effectively;
- Strong report writing and verbal communication skills along with presentation capabilities;
- Possess extensive knowledge of engineering principles related to pipeline facility design and construction in Canada and the US and be experienced in the application of the standards, specifications, rules and regulations governing the industry;
- Previous experience in an integrated project team during all phases of pipeline facility projects;
- Field experience, including experience with pipeline facility construction would be an asset;
- Driven, results-oriented individual who naturally takes responsibility for setting the standard and achieving results;
- Self-directed and capable of working and prioritizing within a continuously changing environment;
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment;
- Instills confidence, respect and creates strong relationships;
- Creative and accepting of new challenges; and
- Based in our Calgary Office, you will be required to travel periodically to the project areas.
