Description:

The Controller oversees the strategic development and implementation of development and accounting projects and initiatives at Navy Yard Charleston, a joint venture redevelopment of the historic Charleston Navy Base. Located in an Opportunity Zone, the development also includes individual historic tax credit projects. This position provides leadership to Navy Yard Charleston and is recognized as the subject matter expert in their field.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Perform as the subject matter expert in the development of objectives, processes, and best practices for the Navy Yard Charleston in coordination with Jamestown Fund and Corporate Accounting teams.
  • Prepare investor draw requests and forecasts
  • Manage and forecast development entity cash and cash flows.
  • Coordinate the development entity annual budgets and update MRI.
  • Prepare and review combined quarterly forecasts.
  • Review and approve all wire transfers.
  • Review and approve all corporate check requests.
  • Prepare year end audited financial statements and work with auditors on the audit.
  • Manage investor distribution check process.
  • Maintain current records for entities and corporate level books.
  • Review all development general ledgers
  • Perform as signer on all bank accounts.
  • Administer MRI Accounting software and perform as subject matter expert in software projects/upgrades.
  • Oversee the Accounts Payable process.
  • Oversee performance review process for department employees.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • More than seven years of related accounting experience or
  • Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • MRI Software and Nexus experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE OF:
  • Financial analysis
  • Development accounting
  • Real Estate, experience with Opportunity Zones preferred
  • Excel

WORK SCHEDULE:
  • Responsibilities may require an adjusted work schedule, overtime, and evening/weekend hours in order to meet deadlines or attend special events.
